Enjoy your holiday with your family, worry about tidying when they've left. I must admit with the heat cleaning is something I do when needed, had to do some ironing this morning, almost melted.
I haven't made any cards for last week's challenge yet, but here it is......another Monday! My challenge this week is an easy one. Lets make a one layer card. I have two samples that I made up quickly this morning. I woke up at 3 a.m. and went outside to view the Perseid meteor shower. I was out getting chilled for about 10 minutes and saw only one, so I decided to go back to bed, but sleep was very elusive. I got up again and made a couple of cards and am planning a 'Memory' book for my neighbour, celebrating 15 Optimist Club members who have passed away this past year.
Now that my visitors have left, I need to update my totals. I haven't been making very many cards, but then again, I also haven't been spending!

I've just changed my totals. I made a set of 10 photo cards and a box this week, and spent all week making a memory book for the regional Optimist clubs for all the members who have passed on in the past year. There were 15 of them, and it took me all week. However, I neglected to get photos! I want to bask in the numbers for awhile before I shop at my neighbour's (a SU demo) sale today. I promise I won't go into the red!

The weeks go by so fast! It's Monday again and we are going to bask in warm sunny weather most of the week. I am really looking forward to spending time outdoors, as I spent most of last week inside working on the memory book.
Today is National Aviation Day in the U.S. This day was established in 1939 by F.D. Roosevelt in honour of the birthday of Orville Wright. ......let's feature airplanes on a card.

Maybe I have time to play today! Enjoy your time outside today, Ina!
A scrap page certainly works! I should post the photos of the scrap pages I did for the memory book last week. I let it go out of my hands before photographing it and I didn't even sign it. Then this morning, my neighbour said she wasn't abele to give the book to the person who takes care of the Optimist archives, so she still had it and I got it back to photograph and sign it.

Good morning. It's raining here, and we can't go out for our regular early morning walk.....not because of the rain, but because we also have thunder and lightening. Our challenge this week: On August 25, 1785, the first issue of the Montreal Gazette was published. This newspaper is still a well respected news source today. Our challenge will be to use newsprint on a card, and I am adding an extra twist, also use at least one French word on the card.

I am still trying to get my room back in order. I finally got the ribbon under control. I didn't realize how many yards of different ribbon I had. It's not pretty but it is manageable. It seems like every weekend I plan on working on the reorganization, something comes up to interrupt me. Now, my work schedule is changing again. I will be back to working Saturdays but will have Sundays/Mondays off again. I did get a card made last Saturday for a 60th surprise part. I have a scan of it, I just need to take the time to upload it. I'm not too pleased with it, but it could have been a lot worse. I did break down and purchased something new. Silhouette America came out with a stamp starter kit. It has the materials to make your own clear stamps using cutting files. It arrived today, but I will wait until Sunday to play with it when I hope to have more time. I'm still in the black with this purchase. I think I should just go to bed. Nothing's making sense anymore. Just wanted to let you know I haven't disappeared completely.
Now, I have a question. When I take part in a craft garage sale, if I don't spend what I make at other people's tables, do I add that in to my totals as a plus? One year I made over $100.0, but I think I spent a lot of it. Just wondering or I will just spend it up on crafts and not show I spent money?
Debbie, so good to hear from you and to get us caught up with your life. You just sound so very busy! I see you are still in the black, and I have just fallen back into the red! But I will be making a set of 10 photo cards today, along with a mini pizza box to put them in, so that will get me above the break even mark.

Sharon, in my opinion, I think if you don't use the money to buy paper crafting or scrapbooking items, you should still be able to count what you earned.

I've been up to the cottage since Saturday morning, and should have posted the challenge before I left. Ah well, I don't think too many people are lying awake waiting for this challenge. It was Labour Day in Canada and the U.S. on Monday, so lets feature a job......either yours or one of your family or friend. For example, a farmer could feature any farm animal or a barn. A trucker could feature a truck, or even coffee, as many truckers live on coffee (at least my brother does).

I finally added up my totals for August and updated my totals in my siggy.I am staying ahead of it simply because I don't have the time to shop too much anymore. Also, haven't had time to go to any SU! workshops. My demo is moving on my side of town this fall sometime, so I will probably be going to the workshops and spending money too.
Too bad you didn't make many sales Sharon, but you still had a good time, yes? I need to update my totals. I have been shopping, small amounts each time, but it all adds up. I guess it's time for another challenge.

S2S13KK challenge 'Stitching'. I have my sewing machine out, as my son-in-law asked me to lengthen the suspender straps on his wading pants. He's 6'5". I don't sew on my cards very much, but find it a great look. If you don't have a sewing machine, you can always add a couple of cross stitches with a needle and thread.

I love how stitching looks on cards. I just don't do it often! I will do this!
Thanks for the challenge!
Wow! Love both your cards. The camera one made me smile, so perfect for the YCDI challenge. And the sympathy card was gorgeous. You did great stitching on both. When I stitch on cards it is very boring; yours was artistic.
Posting the challenge a little early for this week. I just got in from covering my tomatoes with bed sheets to protect them from the frost. I think tonight is the only night it's going to freeze this week, so I want to keep them on the vine.
On Friday, it will be International World Tourism Day. This year the theme is 'Tourism and Water'.
So sorry Ina for not doing any challenges for a while, I've just been so busy and trying to catch up with Christmas cards and all the specials I've had to make.
Like the new Avatar, I didn't notice until Sharon mention it but my excuse is that When I read posts on my iPad I stretch the writing so I can't see that part!
Can't believe its nearly October, must update my totals.
Hello ladies. I've heard about this S2S concept for a while now and I finally came over to have a look see at this thread. About a year ago I had a pretty heavy purging session which left me feeling so much better for having done it. I'd like to have a go at monitoring myself with S2S as a way of making my purchases count as something useful and not just accumulate more stuff. Do you tailor your dollar value to suit yourself or do you have a standard value that is comparable to everyone else?
Theresa Welcome aboard! Everyone pretty much tailors the values to their own needs. Some include a $ value for each hour of organizing, I give myself credit for each hour I work out. Some people sell at craft fairs and subtract what they sell from what they spent. Others just make for thier own needs and gifts. It is really flexable. I think there is an Excel spread sheet at the beginning of the thread that you can change.
Welcome, welcome Theresa! so glad to have you. This thread is to help us use up some of our existing supplies and to keep our spending under control. You can set your own values to moneys spent and earned. At the very beginning of this thread there are some suggestions. But you tailor it to your own needs. If nothing else, this thread helps us become more aware of what we are spending and using. It can also encourage us to do things that we have difficulty doing......for example exercising or dieting, or even housecleaning. I post a new challenge every Monday to inspire us if we need inspiration, but there's also lots of other challenges and inspirations on splitcoast, as you already know.

Thanks for the welcome ladies. I have in mind a value that I'll assign to the usage of my supplies and tools which will give me a S2S value for completed items. Lucky for me my biggest card making endevour of the year, HYCCT, is about to start. I'll start keeping a tally for October.
Today is International coffee day! So, lets be inspired by coffee this week. I don't drink it at all, but I'll make my tea cup into a coffee cup for the challenge.

Made my first card for my S2S challenge. Lacking any coffee related images I went with all my coffee named colours, which yielded up a nice masculine card.

I was so happy to have got my first S2S chalenge done I couldn't wait to share the news. Don't worry photos will be uploaded soon. I was so happy with what I made yesterday that I went ahead and made two more similar. This morning I'm working on my HYCCT cards.
Seeing as it is midnight and I am still up (had a great book I wanted to finish) I will post this week's challenge now. It's an easy one. Use stickles on a card! If you don't have stickles, a sparkly glue will work.
Here's my sample. I used stickles on the butterflies, the flourish sparkles were in the designer paper.
