Hello! I am so happy to be joining the Teapot Tuesday challenge.
Anyone is welcome to play - the more, the merrier! You automatically become aTEApotter the first time you play in our challenge. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not a requirement. Just have fun!
CHALLENGE:
This weeks challenge is to use sewing on your card. It doesnt have to be real sewing, it could be a stamp with stitching, or a stitched die. It could even be thread, fabric, fibers or lace.
DESTINATION STATION: This week were hosting a tea party for sweet Aunt Betty, a 90 year old gem who lives in Pennington,NJ. Betty was brought to our attention by fellow SCSer, irishgreensue(Sue) who wrote:
This week we are making card to send to Aunt Betty, a 90 year-old widow who lives with her Yorkie and goats on a 14 acre farm. She doesn't get many visitors and is very lonely out there on the farm and her friend Sue says, I thought maybe since she REALLY appreciates home made cards because she knows how much love goes into them, that maybe the teapotters could send her a "little bit of love with a fold in the middle" it might cheer her up and help her get through the winter with her spirits lifted.
Aunt Betty loves all things "farm"deer, flowers, owls, trees, barns,as well as her little Yorkie, etc. and she appreciates every little detail. Sue mentioned that Betty studies every detail of the cards she has given to her. Scripture messages would be welcome. SEND YOUR CARD TO: Mrs. Betty Lawton
148 Woosamonsa Rd. Pennington, NJ 08534 USA

THANKS from the bottom of my heart to all the Teapotters who are sending a card off to "aunt" Betty this week - I try to visit with her for a day, at least every other week, but she is going to be so ECSTATIC when your cards start arriving, and I know she will be asking about the wonderful Teapotters and how they did each and every technique, fold, and the stitching on the cards!!
Bless all your hearts for your kindness to her!!!

This is my first time playing along. I've been determined to join this year, as my card stash continually grows. I hope this works for the challenge. I was inspired by the quote on this. I almost threw it out, as it was "leftover" from a card kit I had, but then I read the theme and thought PERFECT!
A quick update on Aunt Betty - she is positively THRILLED everyday when she goes to her mailbox and finds some more happy mail!! I get a call from her that night and she relates all the details of any of the cards she received that day, and she is also amazed to see where they are all coming from - not only from here in the states, but now she is starting to get some from other countries - so magical to her!! Thank you again to all those who have mailed her out a card to brighten her day!!

This is what makes this all worthwhile. Thanks for sharing this Sue. I can just imagine Betty's excitement. So happy we have brought her joy. :-)

For Aunt Betty it is probably a good thing to spread out her mail! I am making my contribution! Thanks, Sue, for the update. Nothing very fancy, but here is mine:
Hi, irishgreensue again - Just HAD to tell you - I was up at aunt Betty's yesterday (Thursday the 8th) and she had all the cards lined up IN THE ENVELOPES so I could see where they were from and what day she received them - boy was she excited!! This is all bringing her so much happiness, you can't imagine! I had to give her a blow by blow on how each of the cards was made (techniques, etc) and she was mesmerized by it all, in addition to being overcome with gratitude to all of you who sent cards to her. I know she would like to respond to you herself, but not sure she will be able to individually, so maybe she will dictate a Thank you to all of you and I can post it on here.
Bless your hearts for bringing such joy to a sweet Lady - she doesn't get much attention from her son and DIL and therefore that is why she is so lonely! I am usually there every other week and more often if possible.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Sue

Sabrina and Jean!!!!Oh my goodness, you ladies are such ANGELS in disguise!!!! Aunt Betty will be beside herself with JOY if cards keep arriving!! A Valentine card from Jean will surely let her feel the love you are sending with your handmade card - I just got one ready for V-day myself and took her up some of her favorite candy!!! LOL
God bless you and all the Teapotters that answered the "call"!!

Thanks, Sue, for the updates. I know we teapotters do not send cards for the recognition, yet I am sure there is a little something within all of us that likes to know our cards are received and appreciated, and these kind words from you more than fill the bill. You are such a thoughtful friend.
If you all only could see how much you are brightening her days - I think next time I am there, I will have to get a picture of her with all her cards - now if I can only remember how to POST them!! LOL

Very easy to add photos directly into a post now : mrgreen:, just click on the icon that looks like the landscape setting on a camera.
I already know the card I'm going to send, it's got chickens on it: WT633 Sunshine
Oh my goodness (giggling) Aunt Betty is going to love this one - all the way from IRELAND - she really appreciated your little note enclosed in the first one you sent, and bless your heart too for sending her another. I am going to have to get her picture, as I said, with all these and hopefully your instruction will help me get the picture up here too!!
