We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
Here....I'll just post it.
These are posted somewhere else; I cut & pasted vs. attach a link:
1. Cut a sheet of cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".
2. Stamp sheet as desired.
3. Insert scoring blade on paper cutter. Score at 2", 4", 6" and 8" along the 8 1/2" length side of cardstock piece. You will have a 1/2" section left over.
4. Turn cardstock piece 90 degrees, and score entire length of cardstock at the 2" mark. (Your scoring blade will travel 8-1/2" down. The 5 1/2" side of cardstock piece will be against the bottom lip of your paper cutter).
5. Look at your scored cardstock piece. Take scissors and trim off the 2" x 1/2" section (not the 3 1/2" x 1/2" section). *Note: The 3 1/2" x 2" sections are the box top and the 2" x 2" sections are the box bottom.
6. Cut each 2" score mark along the 8 1/2" side. (You will be making three straight cuts, each along the 2" score marks). Do not cut beyond the long score mark running the length of the 8 1/2" side.
7. Fold along all score marks.
8. Place a section of sticky strip tape along the 3 1/2" x 1/2" flap on the decorated/stamped side. Seal the top part of the box closed.
9. Fold up the four 2" x 2" pieces; this is the bottom of your box. Use a sticky strip on the last 2" x 2" piece to seal the bottom of the box.
10. You will be forming the top of the box similar to a milk carton: Look at your box and find the side that looks best for your front. This front section and the back section of your box will remain flat. You will be 'denting' in the two SIDES of the box until you can pinch the top of the box flat.
11. I notched my sides with a rectangle hand-held punch and tied closed with a length of earth elements fiber.
Try this with other sizes: 8.5" square, for example.
These are fun and a very cute little box.
Good Luck

Here's a link to one in the gallery. If you do a search of 2-4-6-8 it will show a few examples. I love them and will be demoing some for my ws next week.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I was having a hard time picturing how to do this. Your directions are perfect. I'm already thinking of how I'm going to use this for Halloween. I may just make these to pass out my candy in.

Has everyone seen the 'milk carton' that is so very similar to this box. The differences are you get a slightly larger box by using a whole sheet of paper and at the top you score about 2 inches across and it makes a nifty container. I sell them at craft fairs decorated for Christmas, but I taught a class retiform and formed the boxes after~ they turned out great. (You end up having 4 distinct sides because you are only pinching in the top where you score)
If you used the coffee set you could throw a sample bag of coffee in. I put bathsalts, kisses, tea bags, candies, small gifts, even had one lady buy it to put an ornament in as a gift bag. (Friendship boxes can fill a smaller size, too)

Do you happen to have a picture of one of these? Thanks!
THANKS SO MUCH!!! I love your instructions! I just may use this for my holiday stamp camp! I've been trying to think up of a "gift bag" of sorts. This works great!
You're very welcome...good luck w/ your stamp camp. Everyone I've showed them to has loved them.
I just tried it w/ a full sheet of 8.5 x11 and it looks like scoring at 2.5", 5", 7.5", and 10" w/ a 2.5" score across the bottom works well. The rest of the instructions would be the same as I posted above.
Regards,
Robin

The dimensions of the milk carton are:
~use a 8.5x11 sheet
~score at 2.5 intervals across the length four times (leaves a tab on the end).
~turn at 90* and score at 2.5 and then at the 7.25
~cut the little squarish tab out and off and cut along the 1.25 score lines to create a bottom of the box that meets in the middle twice
~fold all score lines (to see where you are stamping if you want to create specific patterns on sides of carton)
~decorate box
~fold box, glue tab into inside of box, fold over bottom flaps 2 opposite sides and covered by 2 opposite sides. Pinch top together for the milk carton look
I hole punched and added ribbon to shut top
You can vary the height of this carton by eliminating some of the "middle area" (cut an inch off the entire width of paper before scoring)
~ I think its best to always have a top of 2.5 inches and the bottom 1.25 for things to meet correctly.
I hope this makes some sense, I actually made the little 2-4-6-8 box since posting my first reply and realize they are quite different because of the size etc. So I apologize for any straying from the initial question...
I'll try posting a photo of the varying heights. (I've never done this but I hope to start posting a few cards that I've made by all those that have inspired me on here. I made 3 spinner cards today and how fun are they!!
(with snowflakes, leaves under a row of trees and a present sliding in under a Christmas tree) Thank you guys!
(also one more note, if the picture works of the boxes, you'll see that the shortest looks washed out- this was a gorgeous retiform but it has faded over the past year of being on display so there maybe is a strong case for Craft pads in your scrapbooks...)
