Question Acrylic Paint on Tumbled Tiles?

On page 20 of the Spring Mini is a tumbled tile coaster with a pear on it. The SU! Demo site says it was made using acrylic paint. Has anyone tried this? Do you have to use a sealer with acrylics on the tiles?

Default Acrylic Paint on Tumbled Tile

I just did this with a craft group at work at lunch time. I used the Chalk Petalpoint pads, inked with gold and then used brown around edges and then small blips in the center area. It looks great! With 10-15 minutes at 325 degrees to seal.

Hope this helps.

Ok, I know this is old..... but the above post says they used petalpoint chalk ink...... Can you use acrylic paint? Has anyone tried acrylic paint on tumbled tiles? I have a craft show coming up and want to do snowmen on tiles and paint them white. Anyone????

Default acrylic paint on tumbled tiles

At a stamp camp several years ago, my upline had a set (Watercolor Minis) that we used to stamp acrylic paints onto the tiles and then we sealed them with spray sealer. I didn't like how they turned out at all. That particular set is too detailed for using paint. Even tho I tried to apply the paint to the stamp very lightly with a foam brush, it was still too heavy and the images were blurry and sloppy looking. Perhaps if we had used a large, bold stamp w/o much detail it would have looked better. If you are planning to simply paint the acrylic onto an image already stamped on the tile, that may well work. I'd be sure to use a light touch at first and see how it goes. You can always put more on, but since the tiles are so porous, you'd be lucky to get off any excess or mistakes. It's definitely worth a try, so I'd experiment around with it a little if I were you and see what happens. If it works out, be sure and post your creations so we can enjoy them too! HTH

Default acrylic paint on tile

My experience is that acrylic paint lies on the tile surface. The craft ink seems to "strike into" the surface. I think the ink gives a more professional finished result.

I tried just a little bit of paint on a tile once, wanted white, it was a disaster. Ruined the whole look of the tile. StazOn came out with white and it seems to work. Maybe not on white tiles because you are putting white on white, but if you put a tree in the background, it certainly would look good.

Default Acrylic Paint on Tile

Hi, I've painted lots of tumbled tiles with acrylic paint, I haven't stamped with it on tile. You do have to put a sealer on it. Hope this answer helps.
