Default Adhesive problem with composition notebooks

I tried covering a composition notebook (from Target) yesterday and my paper peeled back off after the glue was dry. I used Mod Podge bc I had it. Brushed over the entire surface, layed the paper over it and put a heavy photo box on it while it dried to keep it smooth. But once it was dry the paper peeled off..the whole sheet, very smoothly. Anyone have any ideas? New glue? Sand the surface of the notebook to give it some tooth? I have been wondering about spray adhesives....I've used those before for mock-ups when I did graphic design.

Thank you!

Shelley

Hmmm...I had the opposite problem, Mod Podge was the ONLY thing that would stick. Strange...sorry, don't have any advice, but I've been there. Spend all that time on a notebook to have it curl up on me.

Default Ahhesive problem with Composition Notebooks

My upline's group recommended YES! glue, and I have tried it and have been very happy with the results. It comes in a big tub, like the paste we used to use in school. I am pretty sure Michael's carries it in the adhesive section. Good luck!

I've never used ModPodge on mine so I can't help you there.... I did have some students try glue sticks and Zig 2-way glue...neither of those worked/held either :(

What I have used is the monoadhesive tape runner. I run it along the edges and then a big X throught the center. I've made dozens of them over the last 2 years and not had any problems with the adhesive coming loose.

HTH! good Luck!

I use the xyron machine for these types of projects. Didn't have any luck with mono, glue, or anything else I tried.

I use Sticky Strip. That stuff works on anything!

I have used doublestick tape (lots of it). I put it right along the edge of the notebook, then strips in the middle and lay my decorated piece on top of it. I have one that I did two years ago and I use it lots (class sign up lists) and it has never come apart. I think the sticky strip would work as well.

I use the rubber cement dry-bond method. It REALLY sticks! Coat both surfaces to be adhered with an even application of rubber cement. Allow them to dry completely, then fit them adhesive sides together. Be careful to get things in position the first time - you don't get to adjust this method! I've had no trouble with my covers staying in place.

Rubber cement is what I use. It adheres to anything (that I've tried) even your fingers!

I too have had good luck using double stick tape. I did them for my dd birthday and all of the girls loved decorating them.

The only glue stick that has consistently worked for me in the humid climate of Savannah is the UHU brand. I like the purple one because it lets you see whether you've applied enough glue, but dries clear.
