I pretty much only use eyelets. Everything I've tried shows thru.

Anything "external" like eyelets, brads, sewing, etc. of course works great! If you can't hide the adhesive under an embellishment or cs, I usually use a xyron. Sorry if you dont have one, but it really works great! Another thing that does work, but can be messy and stinky is spray on adhesive. Also a vellum tape (never used it myself) is purported to work well. Good luck

Tonbow do a glue for vellum, like a pritt stick and that works very well. I think Xyron also do a vellum tape but it is really expensive.

Creative Memories has a clear photo splits that are made for vellum, but I've never tried it with cardstock

I love the CM clear photo splits. They do not show through most vellums, but I have found that they do show through certain ones. I just always try on a scrap piece of vellum and cardstock before actually doing it on the card or page.

What if you put adhesive over the entire surface? You can also run it through a Xyron machine and make it into a sticker.

Question

I have tried attaching vellum with eyelets but I can never get it to lay flat, any suggestions?

I usually use my Xyron or brads. I also find that when I set the eyelets, the vellum pulls and wrinkles. Brads tend to be more forgiving.

Default vellum

If you look at commercial cards, you will see that they often attach vellum by folding a portion over to the back or inside of the card where it is glued or sandwiched in between another piece of cs.

I use the vellum tape without any problems. I don't have any problems with it showing through, but I don't use a lot. I usually use brads or eyelets though because I design my cards that way. Good luck.

I think the vellum tape works fine. At first you can see it slightly, but as it "sets" it is invisible.

Default vellum

I like the vellum tape also, but would agree if you want to use something to add for interest, the brads are MUCH more forgiving than eyelets. I have been having the same problem with eyelets in grossgrain ribbon. I find myself buying more and more brads!

I've had fairly good luck using Terrifically Tacky Tape. I've found it at Michaels. Good Luck!

Me too, but ONLY with SU! vellum paper. If I try to use it with store bought vellum, it ALWAYS shows through. SU!s vellum is perfect for the vellum tape!

Vellum tape, clear mount tabs, etc. seem to always show up the worst when vellum is mounted over darker toned c/s. I seem to get best results with those if I'm layering vellum or the lightest of colors?

So, if I don't wanna use "fasteners", I usually rely on my Xyron, and in desperation (cuz I hate the fumes), spray adhesive.

But, as someone mentioned, there's a low-fume/odor spray out there now called "Scrapper's spray adhesive"?

I also have quilter's spray adhesive--it's temporary, for using quilting templates? It's much lower order than standard spray adhesive, but I dunno if it's acid-free. . . . It sure cost a pretty penny--like $9+ for one small can . . . But I wanted something temporary, and low odor, so . . . I bit . . .

Thanks so much for asking this question. I've been wondering the same thing. Great ideas from all of you!
