Default Anybody try the new S.U. Chic Batik technique?

Hi,
Has anybody tried the new Chic Batik technique from the May Stampin Success Magazine? Any Luck? I tried it but didn't get the same look that S.U. did :(

Default Not so chic

I tried it last night...and it didn't look anything like the picture. I don't know what I did wrong!

It's a technique that's been around for awhile. Emboss in clear on white mulberry paper. The put reinkers on and allow to dry. The place the mulberry between copy paper and iron. The copy paper should soak up the clear embossing powder.

I've also done a similar technique except that instead of using mulberry paper, I used watercolor paper and color wash ink. Here is that card. The look is a little different since watercolor paper is tons thicker than mulberry paper, but the process is exactly the same.

I'm not sure I understand--you're not supposed to heat it when you first emboss? You just put the powder on the versamark, then the re-inker and then do the iron thing? ld

Yep, the embossing will melt off of the image onto the copy paper leaving a "resist" image.

oops...sorry I didn't answer you question correctly. Yes, heat when you first emboss, just like you would any other embossing project.

I'm thinking I used too thin a white mulberry paper and how hot is your iron supposed to be? I had it only on a warm/rayon setting. I'm going to post three cards I did in a few minutes.

I used the cotton setting. It has to be hot enough to melt the embossing.

ooops sorry yes you emboss and then do all the inking and then when you iron it between the paper it soaks it back up leaving a nice resist without the plastic still being there. Lynn what a beautiful card I'm going to have to try that with some of my colorwashes and watercolor paper!

Very interesting it must produce a similar look. I think it might be subtly different because you sort of remove the powder when you iron.

Here's one I tried. I think I need to use darker ink but this turned out okay.
