Default Asian art question

I am curious about an embossing technique that is in SU's 2003 2004 idea book. It is on pg 125 and uses SU's Asian art stamp. It seems that the triple embossing some how is all the way down to the paper. Is this a resist technique? I have been fascinated with this card and try as I may am unable to figure this one out any ideas?

You may have more success if you post this in the Techniques and Templates forum.

Hi!

I checked out the card. Funny I had never noticed that sample ;) It looks to me like that pressed the stamp into the embossed powder while it was still hot. I've never done this, but I'm guessing that they must have used the Gold Encore pad DTP, just in the rectangular shape, then put on the gold embossing powder. Ink the stamp in basic black. Heat to melt the powder and while still hot, press the inked stamped into it. Let cool and then remove the stamp.

I've not done this technique, but read about it on the technique junkies yahoo group (I think).

I've sent a message to our demo support asking for them to verify the technique used. It's usually a few days before we hear back though.

Have a great day!

Okay!

I heard back from demo support and the technique I described above is the one used to create the sample.

Hope you get this message. Does a reply go back to the original poster if you sign in as a guest?!

I just tried this (I'm not a very experienced stamper) and it turned out OK. I should have pressed my Asian Art stamp harder into the embossing.

I just used the rectangle from "the shape of things" set and used Versamark (didn't have gold ink) and gold embossing powder. Then I heated it. Then after I embossed and did more versamark on the rectangle, more Gold EP and heated it again. Then I did it again. Then I got tired of the rectangle stamp and used the versamark pad directly on the paper. It's a rectangle so why not? After the gold looked thick enough I did the black stamp from the Asian art and left it there to dry. Again, the only problem was I didn't press quite hard enough. You can see the pic, just some of the smaller details didn't show up.
It's pretty cool! Good luck trying it.
