Default "Blending" Prismacolors

I was using my prismacolors this weekend and was having a hard time getting my colors to blend (I was using a non SU cs).

I decided to try what I do when I watercolor.

I sprayed another piece of cs with Krylon Matte Spay - just a light coat. It dries almost instantly.

Stamped my image and colored away. Applied the stump with the mineral spirits. Voila!!! Beautiful blending! Soooo much easier!

Just thought I would share.

You can purchase blender pencils for Prismacolor pencils. They're only a dollar or so and make a huge difference.

Default Prismacolour

I found them at Michaels this weekend. Haven't had a chance to try them yet. My SU order is being delivered by Brown today so I have to stay in. Sounds like today will be the day.

Debra
I bought some of these, yet I didn't think they did much. How have you had success with them?

I had a blender pencil and didn't like the results I got either so I put it away and forgot about it. One day in my local stamp store I ask the owner how a card was colored and she said using pencils. I was astonished. She showed me how easily it is done with the blending pencil. The key is to use firm pressure and apply a lot of color with your pencils when coloring first. Use the blending pencil to "blend" the two or more shades together. I think the blending pencil actually removes some of the color in the process and this is why it is better to deeply color it first, even with lighter shades.

Since then, I have enjoyed using my Prismacolor pencils with the blender pencil again. Hope this helps.

They're not pens, they're pencils just like the Prismacolors. You should be able to find them in any display where the colored pencils are sold individually -- Michael's does this, as well as most specialty art supply stores.

At VIKING when you order your Mono. LOL Well, that is where I got mine.

I wonder if the pencils were cold. I have never had any trouble blending mine with water, but I would doubt I have ever used them under 70+ degree tempature.
