Is there a specific technique to making the butterflies that seem to just hover above the card (3 dimensional)? Specifically, how are they attached to the card? I can't wait to hear. These cards are so beautiful. smgrimes
Can you link to the card that you are referring to?

This week's Favorites thread had some wonderful butterflies and humming birds. When someone includes a recipe in the gallery, you can tell what was used to pop up the 3D item. Double-sided foam adhesive is often used, and you can either pop up the whole butterfly or only the top wing.
The butterfly in the oval was cut out and then I used a bone folder to bend the fiber in the paper to make the wings look like they are in flight. All you need to do to accomplish this is hold the butterfly by the center and run the wing between your thumb and the bone folder - be careful to not rip the wing off (sigh... can you tell I have). You can run the bone behind the wing or on top depending on which way you want the wing to flutter. This one is behind the wing.
I love making 3-D butterflies. All I do is stamp them on a scrap of CS, carefully cut them out, bend the wings up a little and stick them on the card with just a little foam tape right on the abdomen.
Here are a few links from my gallery so you can see what I mean.
I like to use 3-D pop dots. Just like a glue dot only much bigger. You can use the whole dot, or cut it in 1/4.
Good thing about these, they are transparent.
I use clear window/door caulking that comes in a tube like a large tube of toothpaste.(About $4 at Walmart in the paint dept)...that way I can use just a little or a bigger amount, depending on how high I want a butterfly wing or flower petal to be, It dries like a hardened, clear, rubber ....I love being able to have the variation of of height for more realistic look....and it does`nt get squashed down in the mail either.
