I made a few composition notebooks last weekend using mono for the binding cardstock. Some of them are coming off. Is there something better to use on the bindings? We have a party tomorrow night and I was going to have the ladies make one, but I need to solve this problem if this is going to work. I was thinking rubber cement possibly, but that gets kinda messy to work with.
Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.
tia,

crystal effects
I read some directions on here somewhere that recommended crystal effects. I have made 3 the last 24 hours and it seems to be fine. She called it "superglue" so this should work. The liquid stuff isn't as messy as you would imagine. I had very little wiping to do, just don't use a whole lot. Have fun!
I have tried CE, Aleene's Tacky Glue and sticky double sided tape (Terrifically Tacky Tape but SU has its own now). Out of the three I like the sticky tape the best - less messy but more expensive :( But any of those will work
I used mono also, and I don't know if they held because I gave them all away! I will have to ask the recipients. The original directions from this site called for Crystal Effects. You might also try Terrifically Tacky Tape or the version of it in our catalog. Good luck.

I've made some with CS binding and then I've also done some with just CS up to about an 1" from the edge of the binding and it looks fine with just the black binding that comes on the comp. book. Give it a try.
I use the velveteen paper for the binding and than tie an organdy ribbon from the inside of the front page of the notebook to the front around the binding and tie in a boy. I usually use doublestick tape and have to admit that sometimes I do have some problems with it coming off. I have used crystal effects on items I make that nothing else works and I have had very good results. I buy my velveteen paper at the bigger Joanne Fabrics. Carol
I use spray adhesive for the piece sticking directly to the cover and that worked well. On the crimped piece I put over the spine I used 3M Scotch Double Sided sticky tape as well. I really like that stuff!!
I used an acid free rubber cement that I found at Michael's. I don't think I could pull the paper off of my comp book now if I wanted to! I used it on the binding too. There a dry methoding of using the rubber cement - put on both surfaces, let dry, stick together - that is what I did. It is called Paper Cement and I found it with the adhesives and finishes.

One of the most versitile glues I have used is called YES paste. It is an archival product. It will stick anything down, it is a paste texture and dries fairly quick. I have also used tulle for the binding. Using this I can put a fancy knot on the front of the book.
I haven't tried it on comp book, but I'd like to sugest paper modge podge! It has worked great on cd's and the empty plastic case my sizzix dies came in.
I've been making homemade books for years, and there is an actual book binding glue on the market called PVA. It says right on the front of the label "book binding glue". It's really cool, cuz you can make your own post it pads. Cut paper to size, make a stack, different or same colors, stamp of course, then put glue on one side of the stacked papers, let dry, and you have a note pad. I got it at a local craft store. I also bought a binding machine on ebay. Because I make my own hand made albums too. Hope this helps. Susan
