Here is a thread to show how to make buttons for your cards, I know, it's not crocheting but thought some of you would be interested in seeing these!

Well Shelly, I have been working on them but, what I am not so crazy about is the part, after the first leaf is made you chain 1 then turn and sl st into the center of the leaf.....well, my leaf does not lay as flat as the pictures of either your leaves or the leaves of the example on the directions. What am I doing wrong? Or is it just supposed to be that way?

Push the tip of the top leaf into the leaf under it to curve it the other way. Puting the stitch into the middle pops it up. You just have to pop it back. I also lay them under something flat & heavy for a bit.

Okay....and sorry....but, that is clear as mud. I am going to keep trying and then press them from the underside to see it that makes a difference. I wish I wasn't such a perfectionist!!
I have someone who is very interested in having several strands of them so, I have to get them done and nicely.....soon!
Thanks Shelly!

Press from the top not the underside.

Cindy, have you tried blocking it? That helps things to lie flat. I haven't done the leaf chain, but I've blocked crocheted flowers and individual leaves.
For anyone who isn't familiar with blocking crocheted pieces, here are the basics:
http://www.wikihow.com/Block-Crocheted-Articles
You can block small pieces on a padded ironing board.

Maybe this will help.
Pic 1 leaves wrong way.
Pic2 pressing leaves.
Pic3 leaves right way.
