dazzling diamonds help... pleeeeze

Hi there,
I recently purchased dazzling diamonds a few months back. Well - I didn't quite know how or what to do with them.. but thought they were sorta cool.

At a more recent party, I asked and was told I needed heat and stick powder to go w/ the dazzling diamonds.

okay - I purchased that... well needless to say - in a house with children - my heat and stick powder is now missing. NObody knows where it is... I'm so angry. I've looked ALL day.

So, question is - how else can I use the diamonds.... getting that dazzling effect w/out the heat and stick powder. Are there other options?

i was using that cute new frog set that I just bought - and I wanted to put the wings of the dragon fly glittery - so I used my versamark pen, colored them in and sprinkled the diamonds on. Then I used the heat gun - it didn't do anything, the powder just blew off.

please help. If I must buy some more heat and stick - I will when the next party comes around, but was hoping to use the dazzling stuff before then.

many thanks in advance.
-B

I recommend the 2-way glue - works really well with dd. i have the heat & stick powder but find it to be kind of a pain to have to heat up before using. HTH

You can use any type of glue that dries clear. Try Crystal effects for a raised look or the 2 Way Glue for a more flatter look. I LOVE Dazzling Diamonds!!! HTH

Default Hope this helps. . .

First, I would suggest you put the DD in a plastic Ziploc-type container.

Then purchase a two-way glue that comes in a marker form. Simply use the glue pen on the area that you want covered in DD. Then place your project over the container and using a spoon, spoon the DD over the area you would like covered. Flip the card over and tap the excess off right back into the container. Works Great!

I used the Versa mark ink pad. And it worked fine for me. I think with the pad you get more coverage than you do with the pen. I went over the paper a few times with the ink pad.

Default Dazzling diamonds

I think I've also read somewhere on here that you can mix DD with clear embossing powder and then use your versamark pen and the embossing powder holds it on. I don't have DD but I have a craft store glitter that looks similar and I use it mixed with embossing powder and it works great. HTH.

The dazzling diamonds technique on the resources page actually uses irridescent ice embossing powder to make it look like dazzling diamonds glitter covers the whole piece of cardstock.

Has anyone tried using the Iridescent Ice to do the dazzling diamond dust technique w/o using the glossy paper? I'm thinking of trying it for a Christmas card with snowflakes and I'm not sure how to do it. Jackie

If you are talking about th emathod on the resource page, yse it will work w/o glossy paper. The heated pearl ex also work without glossy paper. I did not even realize it was done with glossy cs.

Default If you ever find your heat and stick...

By itself, Versamark won't hold glitter on, as you found out It will hold heat and stick powder long enough for you to melt it with a heat tool. Then, while the heat and stick is still melted, quickly sprinkle glitter over the top. Tap off the excess and voila!

You can also do the same melt and sprinkle technique with embossing powder instead of heat and stick. Or you can pre-mix e.p. with glitter (or buy pre-mixed like SU!'s irridescent ice), but it won't be quite as glittery.

Personally, though, I love the 2-in-1 glue pen for adding glitter touches to cards and other non-scrapbook items. No heat tool needed, and the glue pen gets into tiny places easily.
