Default Directions for doing the tissue covered plates/wineglasses

How do you do the glass plates and wine glasses where you cover them with tissue or mulberry paper and then stamp on them? Do you adhere the paper to the plate first and then stamp with stazon? Do you stamp with stazon first and then adhere the paper? I love the look of these items and think they will be a big hit with my regular customers and stamp club.
Help!

Default Tissue Paper plates

Hi.... I made a plate last year, so I can tell you what I did... I stamped on tissue paper with staz-on, then I tore out my images, making manageable sized pieces... then on the back of the plate, use a foam paint brush to brush on some Mod Podge, then stick the tissue paper image down and paint on more Mod Podge. Do this all over, and you can layer the tissue if you want an effect of some darker images and some lighter. I used blue staz-on and the snowflake set and it turned out cute. Just let it dry overnight and it will be good to go... Hope that helps

Stamp your mulberry paper with staz on or craft or emboss it. Because you are adding a liquid to it, you can't use the classic inks that are water based. After you stamp the mulberry paper, set it aside and turn your plate upside down and drench it with a mod podge type stuff, (I use a substance called "Liquid Laminate" from local hobby store) after you cover yoru plate with this liquid, generously, now is the time to sprinkle on any sparlkes of sorts... glitter. Then lay your stamped mulberry paper, stamped side down, onto the back of the plate that is covered with the liquid. gently help the paper to absorb the liquid and smooth out all wrinkles and air bubbles. At this point I usually add more Liq. Laminate to make sure the paper is thoroughly soaked. I then take my heat gun and assist the drying process. It dries pretty quickly and I am able to pick up the plate and trim off the excess mulberry paper from the sides of the plate. I let it dry thoroughly and then give it a second coat of liq. laminate....heat gun and then your done! I have read the back of mod podge and it says it is a water based glue. Liquid Laminate is not....although it clearly says not to put item in the dishwasher, you can gently wash it off. I ran a plate under water just the other day and it did not get the least bit sticky....I would NEVER leave it in the sink...but it definitely can be used for serving cookies etc....
I have made about 7-8 of these this holiday season and have been very pleased with the results....!!! I haven't uploaded them though :( as I normally upload from my scanner and haven't taken the time to take dig. pics of it.
ok, I'm rambling. I hope this all helps. pm me if you have any other questions. oh yeah, SU! mullberry paper is only 8.5x11...which only covers desert plates, but at the same hobby store that I get the liq. laminate, they have packages of 36"x24" mullberry paper..I think by PSX....in many colors.....that is what I use on the larger size dinner plates! I seam is totally noticeable with the mullberry paper...
ok, good luck and have fun!

I had a ball making these as gifts this year. I used tissue paper, stamped with stazon, and glued all in one piece onto mod podge covered plate. be very careful, the tissue gets very fragile, but can be "mended" with a little piece of leftover tissue. there are several samples in my gallery. it ends up looking like mulberry paper. happy stamping!
