Question Faux Linen *pullilng hair out*

Ok, why oh why can't I get this to turn out looking decent? How long are you letting your ink dry before you apply the sand paper?

tips??

Thanks!!!!

I just demonstrated this at a workshop this weekend, and we all got good results. After you sand the first time and sponge ink on, flip the glossy CS over onto scrap paper and rub the back. That way any wet ink comes off and you can sand again. You can always sponge a bit more if you'd like deeper color.

I always sand FIRST, then apply the ink with a sponge. I ink up the sponge and with a sweeping motion set the sponge on the paper. Don't set the sponge on the paper and then move it...you will get a big splotch. It seems to take more ink than I first expected and a lot of rubbing. Then I wipe it with a paper towel, and sand again if needed.

Are you using glossy? What kind of sandpaper are you using?

Faux Linen was one of the TLCs not too long ago...let me find the link.

hope that helps!

I always sand my Glossy cardstock first with a nail file, then use creamy caramel ink and use DTP. I cover the whole piece of CS in both directions...Then I sand again.

Here is a link to a card I did using faux linen...

When I started I had terrible results with linen but I persevered. Here are my tips.
1. After the first sanding wipe with a tissue to get all the grains of cardstock off the card.
2. I don't use a sponge as I like a heavier coverage so I use cat's eye chalks and then when I have smeared all over the card, I wipe again with tissue.
3. I sand again to remove some of the ink on the card and then I finally wipe for a final time with the tissue.
I then stamp my design on the top.
The biggest thing I found is that a sanding block makes all the difference, I tried a nail file and sanding paper and the results were terrible. I couldn't get the angle that I can with a sanding block.
Hope this helps.

Make sure you are using Glossy Cardstock and Sand first. Good Luck and have fun!
