Finally got those twinkling H20s now tell me how to use them
Do I need to emboss my stamped image or can I use them on just a regular stamped image. I saw a card in the gallery that someone did with wonderful wings that I was just so blown away by that I had to buy the stamp set and today I got the H20's but I have no clue how to use them!!!!
You don't have to emboss the image if you use waterproof ink (like stazon, basic black, basic brown). Then what I do is just dab my aquapainter directly into the pot and pick up some color, then paint away! Scribble out the color on a paper towel between colors, etc. just like when you would watercolor. It's fun and SO beautiful.
Can't wait to see what you create. Make sure to post your artwork!
I saw a hint that said to "spritz" with a fine mist of water first directly on the pots of watercolor, then use your waterbrush to color in. The previous poster was correct about the inks. You can also emboss with gold or any other ep to get a different, beautiful look. I love the h2 o's.
I showed my dsil how to use them, but she was using too much water. Eileen

I love my H2O's! I use them just like we used to use watercolors in pre-school. I take a brush dip in water and then into the pot and then I just paint away. Depending on how much water you use on your brush you can get a very pretty sparkly watercolor look or you can get a dark concentrated look. They look wonderful on dark or black paper. Have fun using them!! I know I do mine
I've been pretty nutty over Twinkling H20's ever since they first came out, and I have all the colors (I'm too embarrassed to say how many that is  ). I'm going to give you some links to "get you acquainted" with them, although you may hold it against me later. The first link is to the manufacturer (Luminarte), which shows all the colors the best. The second liink is to the supplier I have placed quite a few orders with. Her name is Robbin Clickner and her prices are the best I have found on the internet and delivery is super fast.
You are going to LOVE them! I recently did a birthday card for my "great" niece with the Birthday Bunny set. I colored it with colored pencil first and then went over it with the H2O's and it was so pretty in person! Once you order your first color group you will be right back for more!!! I have all but about 3 of the colors myself!
Which of the color combos should a 1st time buyer consider?? My budget will only allow for 1 of the 24 pack. Also, how long will a 5gm jar actually last??
TIA!!
OH MY ! They are great!! I did a paint can for a birthday gift last week and I first colored it with pencils and it just did not have that WOW affect I was looking for so I pulled out my H2O's for the first time and I loved them!
My dd noticed right away and loved them too!
All I did was put some water in a medicine cup (you know those ones that come on the liquid medicines) and dipped a paint brush in there rubbed the h2o's and painted away!
Easy easy easy!
I am now waiting on my second order - can't wait to see them!

The technique I was taught is to take the covers off all of your H20s (for those who don't know -- they are a shimmering water color). Mist several times and wait 15 minutes for the paint to turn kind of thick. stir and then use to paint the stamp itself. If the paint is too watery, you'll just make a mess, but if you get the consistency right, it can look very nice as a substitute for an ink pad. I've seen samples that are fabulous. But,
Personally, I've tried these several times and have been disappointed. I'm not much of an artist and while they can give a nice shimmer to a card, they aren't a whole lot different than taking water colors and mixing in a little pearl ex. Generally, I'm art/craft impaired so you should listen to those with more skill or try them out at a store first!

My demo just bought some of these over the weekend & used it to color in the large fish (forgot the name of the set). It makes the fish stand out real nice. Also, don't close the H20's up after using them. Let them dry out first. We were told that they can mildew if you don't let them dry first. Can't wait to get some for my self!
I hate to admit it, but I have all the colors too! There is a lady who belongs to SCS called Shawna and she gives a 25% discount. I have bought also from Robin at Rubber Stamp Madness.
I do 8 cards at a time, so I use a lot of one color sometimes and found out:
1. I need to use a cheap plastic pallette. I add a drop of water or more depending and wet my brush and dip in the pot & then back in the water etc. until I have the color depth I want. Then when I am done I let the color dry up on the plastic and brush it back into the pot.
2. They go a long way and last forever.
3. When I first started using them I added the drop of water to the pot at first and then found sometimes I had a lot of goo and needed to keep adding water and then there was more goo and it took forever for them to dry up. I live in the South. Using the plastic pallette was the answer for me. JMWHO
I have some PE that I haven't even used yet because I'm not sure what to do with it. Are these things similar?
Actually, I think the H2O's are watercolor paints with PE added. The PE just doesn't have what they call a "binder." The binder makes the PE adhere to the paper without having to spray seal it.
I buy Gum Arabic, a powder binder, and add it 1 part gum arabic to 4 parts PE, when I get the PE. That way I can use the PE anyway, anytime I want without worrying about a sealer.
