Default Foam Brayer

 Anyone know what you use the foam brayer for? I have one and am not sure what to do with it. Help, please.

I don't use my foam brayer a lot...but it does work well with the plaid maker.

Thanks for your excellent question! I wondered that also, but never thought of a good reason to have one. I was able to check our product guide on the SU Demonstrator Website, and here is what it stated:

Foam Brayer Attachment

This soft foam brayer attachment snaps into a brayer handle. Use it to create stenciled shapes and backgrounds by rolling it on an ink pad, then rolling it over the Stripes Stencil, or any other stencils you choose. Use it to create a lovely, soft sponged look. For a watercolor effect with the foam attachment, ink brayer on a Spectrum pad, mist the roller with water, and apply to paper.

Hope that helps!

I really prefer using the foam brayer with the spectrum pads. I think it does a better job of blending and it doesn't get too dark too fast so I have better control of that too.

I use the foam when I use black ink like with Joseph's Coat technique so I don't stain my rubber one. It's only for looks, of course!

I learned in stamp camp to wrap a rubberband around the foam brayer several times. It makes a very interesting background.

The foam brayer works great for tinting vellum. Other than that I do not use it much.

you can also lay a piece of cheesecloth onto your paper...ink up the foam brayer and roll it over the cheesecloth. Once you remove the cheesecloth the pattern of it will be on your paper. This works best with the foam brayer as it is soft and will press into the cheescloth better leaving a more accurate resemblance of the cloth on the paper
