Default Gamsol and pencil question!!!!!!

I haven't tried this technique yet!

I went to Michael's today and decided to use my coupon on then so I could. All they had in stock for the Prismancolors were Art Stix which are a woodless colored pencil. Before I take the cellophane off and can't return them.......will these work?????

Yikes...yes, they will however the art sticks are ususally for a large space. It's really hard to color small areas because of their size. However, technically, they are the same as the pencils, except without the wood. Personally, I wouldn't use them for cards but maybe others can let you know if they use them or not?

Good luck!

The colored pencils I use are soft lead. I'm not sure about art stix. I have not tried them. http://www.prismacolor.com I looked and they have a lot of the same qualities, but I am unsure if you will be happy about the way to handle them. Let us know what you decide.

Oh, sweets, I just wrote a post on my blog about using colored pencils with gamsol. I don't know anyone who has used the stix. There are three links on my blog to people smarter than me who have written tutorials on the subject, including SCS. But . . . because I already posted something today and I don't like to inundate my e-mail subscribers with too much stuff from me in one day, I scheduled this post for tomorrow. If you check my blog tomorrow after 9:00 I have more information for you.

The link is in my signature below. Meanwhile, here's the link to the SCS tutorial - here.

I believe I'd return the stix, you'll be much more happy with the pencils. You can get them when there's a coupon. Meanwhile, maybe you can just pick up one or more individual pencils to play.

The Art Stix are the pencils without the wood. OMS will work fine with them but they'll be hard to use in smaller spaces. I have several of them in basic colors like blue (sky) brown (earth) and green (grass) that I use when I need to lay down a lot of color on a large space. Don't think I'd want to use them for "regular" coloring.

My advice would be to take them back. If you find you need them later, you can pick them up individually. Most folks I know, including me, got the best deal on eBay. It may take a while for you to win an auction at the price you want but you can almost always get them for less than what you'd pay at M's even with a coupon.

I always check Ebay before going to buy the big things from a Craft Store. You will be surprised how much cheaper you can get things on ebay. I paid for the 36 count Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils like 20 bucks on ebay.
