I HAVE BEEN PLAYING AROUND WITH BACKGROUNDS TODAY. MY HUSBAND WAS OPENING A NEW LIGHT FIXTURE AND I GRABBED THIS SMALL SQUARE OF BUBBLE WRAP. I BLOTTED IT ON THE INK PAD AND THEN BLOTTED LIGHTLY THE PAPER...AND IT WAS REALLY COOL!
I KNOW...I KNOW...THIS HAS PROBABLY ALREADY BEEN TRIED BY SOME ONE SOME WHERE, BUT IT WAS MY FIRST TRY, AND I HAVE NEVER READ OF IT BEING TRIED.
I WAS GOING TO TRY THE SARAN WRAP TOO AND I DID AND IT WAS REALLY COOL TOO. I JUST THOUGHT I WOULD PASS IT ON, BECAUSE THE BUBBLE WRAP MADE DOTS.
I had fun with this one because I wouldn't tell anyone what I used until they guessed. They all thought I'd put it on with my finger. Yeah, like I could get it that even over the entire background.
It looks great with a bee stamp because it resembles honeycomb. I dont have one in my gallery to show you but its easy to do. I cut a piece about an inch bigger than the cardstock. Lay it flat and ink it up. I then place the cardstock on the wrap lining the edge up to a row of bubbles. After its lying place an old catalog page or even a piece of acetate over it. I use a clipboard and lay it on top and press evenly. Remove the layers and youre all set. I usually just throw it out when Im done because I have a good supply.
Ive also used the big bubble wrap for larger circles and you could make each circle a different color if you want. If you have any flat cork around the house try that too. Have fun!
I just got a new solar blanket for my pool outside and I had to trim it...While I was trimming, I thought...This would make a nice background stamp. My blanket was the diamond shape bubbles, so it was pretty cool rather than just circles. I find that I look at most anything differently now...even garbage, which usually turns out to stamp pretty nicely! My latest idea for stamping was gauze....it actually makes a pretty nice design and its cheap.. I think that you could also use it for layering if you stamped it all up with color.
I use my Penscore for lots of backgrounds and yes, gauze makes a really neat background. With the penscore, you can use all kinds of things to make backgrounds. -- uncooked rice, macaroni, denim, canvas, leaves from the tree in your front yard, lace, beads -- you name it!!
I've put ink on bubble wrap and then used my brayer to either transfer the pattern or roll on the reverse to apply it (hope that makes sense). Two cool things you can do with buble wrap. One is to pop some of the bubbles to make a different pattern. Another is to cut a single bubble out being careful not to pop it, stamp it in ink then press it on your c/s (glossy is cool) and then pop the bubble on the cardstock. It's kind of fun.
