Please help! I'm going to teach a class on heat embossing and I'd like to find as many different techniques as I can. Will you all please help me out with a list?
TIA! Carla

Carla,
I embossed a cover for a legal pad. It was so elegant! I used Vanilla CS and gold embossing powder. I attached a gold ribbon at the top where it is glued.
Also, embossing any CS and using it as wrapping paper for a small gift is versatile.
HTH!

I used vellum and used an SU marker to write a few words. Becasue the vellum keeps teh ink wet, I embossed my writing. Don't know why my pea-brain never thought of that previously, but I liked the effect (esp. for scrapbooking). With vellum if your pad is juicy ypu can sue a regular classic pad to emboss if you are quick.
Scratch and Sniff embossing-mix colored ep with a mathcing pack of Kool-Aid and emboss.
Mix a little pearl Ex in with Clear EP and emboss.
Cracked Glass-you emboss the whole thing with glassy glaze a few times and then bend to crack it
Emboss resist
Joseph's Coat
Dry Embossing (don't need a light table with vellum)
I know these are just a few, but they should help get you started. You can always do a search for some of these terms here.

Joseph's Coat:
Brayer a piece of glossy cs with a spectrum pad. Let Dry. Stamp images around the cs in Versamark and emboss in clear ep. Brayer over the entire piece in black ink. Let dry/ Rub off the black where th eimages were embossed and you will see the rainbow from the bottom piece show through.
It's called Joseph's Coat b/c it's like the coat of many colors.

Just tried this for the first time over the weekend. Stamp with versamark on tissue paper the same color as the candle, apply embossing powder & heat as normal. Cut out the image & try to stay close to the design. Position the image on the side of a candle (I used 3x3 pillar candles) and heat gently with the heat gun just until the wax just barely melts and the paper disappears. The closer you trim the tissue to the image, the better it looks. Takes a little practice to get the hang of it - if you're not careful you'll get excess wax drips all over the candle.
I'd suggest using only candles that are a solid color throughout , as opposed to ones with a thin coat of the color over white, so you don't have color variations if you accidentally heat the wax too much.
Last Christmas, I found out that you can use a glue pen to write (or detail where you want to emboss) and then pour your EP on the glue and emboss it. The texture isn't exactly the same, but it does work! :-)
You can also use embossing powder to color the heads of your brads... Just make sure you don't burn yourself... Needlenose pliers should work well! :-)

Fun Foam!!! Take a piece of fun foam and heat it. It gets thicker and will kind of start to roll on you, but then take a bold stamp (no ink) and just put it on the hot fun foam. It will emboss the image into the foam. Really cool! My upline did it with Groovy at a stampers 10 earlier this year.
You guys are awesome!!! I don't know what I'd do without you! I'm getting a very nice list. I really appreciate all the help. If anyone thinks of anymore I'll be glad to have them!!

Hey - I saw this years ago on the Caroll Duval Show.
Dee Gruenig used a plain ole' ERASABLE PEN on plain cardstock - sprinkled on embossing powder, heated with a heat gun and ~ viola! instant embossed lettering!
I have written a short note inside a handmade card, usually get-well cards, in erasable ink - then embossed. A really nice touch.
This one effect is a real 'wow' factor for me when doing embossing demos.
I learned an embossing technique from one of the stamping magazines, I think Stamp It. I inked up a small piece of cs with veramark and heat embossed with silver ep. I repeated this twice more on the same cs. After the third embossing, while the ep was still hot, I stamped an image into the ep. I cut out the stamped image after it cooled. It resembled a metal charm. So cool. It coordinated with the background stamps and was light weight, so attaching to the card was easy. Best part, you can make this charm over and over again! Don't ask me the name of the technique...no clue!

The versamark pen is great for writing, then embossing.
