Help! Can you stamp on terra cotta flower pots???

Hello.. I have the greatest idea for my brother for Christmas. I am giving him a bunch of pistacios(sp) and got a flour pot at JoAnn's for .69 to put them it.

Has anyone ever stamped on one? if so. .would I use the Staz on? or... am I dreaming??? I have the look in my head.. now if I can get it to work on the pot I will be thrilled

You can stamp on terra cotta pots. I have done them using Staz-On. You need to stamp using a rocking motion to imitate the curve of the pot. Practice first with paper over the pot to master the technique. I also colored in line images with pastels and then sealed with aerosol hairspray. They come out really cute!!! HTH, Rachel.

For something different, I have stamped in versamark and heat embossed with gold EP.

Super easy and looks VERY nice.

I usually prime my flower pots with a good coat of gesso. Then, I like to stamp on them using the craft inks, and set them in my home oven to heat set. You could also blast them with the heat gun, but it's easier to just put 'em all in the oven around 225 for 20 min. or so.

I made a terra cotta pot for my MIL for mother's day this year. I used staz-on ink to stamp with, and colored them in with fabrico markers. HTH

Oh ladies!
:shock: I had the MOST fun doing this flower pot.. I see a theme ahead of me.. many people getting pots for gifts!

I used the ornament stamp from the Little Layers II set around the rim and the snowflake from the same set around the body of the pot. colored them in with chalk and then I used some metallic perm markers I have to highlight and add touches. Then I sprayed it with a clear acrylic spray and it really make the metallic colors POP!

:lol: I am sooo happy with it.. now if only my brother will appreciate it! ha. Oh well.. I had fun anyway.

I stamp on them all the time using classic ink and allowing it to try for an hour or so.
Embossing on them is much nicer looking! Silver is me favorite.
