Question Help with Joseph's Coat

Okay all of you Joseph's Coat experts! I need your help!

I am teaching a "Stamping with Color" class at a local stamp/scrapbook store and I need some assistance with the Joseph's coat technique. When I have tried this and covered the glossy cardstock with the black ink, it dries and is kind of a dull black finish. Shouldn't it be a shiny finish? What could I be doing wrong? I could use any other helpful tips that you have learned along the way. I would be ever so grateful!

Thanks in advance!

It was kinda dull when we did it too. I think it's just the black ink that makes it look that way. I still liked it though. But maybe someone else will have admice to make it shiny.

I find it sometimes requires more than one "coat" of permanent black ink to eliminate the faded look. The glossy cardstock seems to absorb the ink. I let it dry really well before I decide if it needs more.

Mine dried to a dull finish, but everyone loved it still. I've never seen one that someone else has done, so I didn't know it was supposed to be anything other than dull. It's still an impressive technique.

Thanks, everyone, for the help. I guess it is back to the drawing board to see what works for me.

I appreciate the comments!
