I suppose this would be the best place to post this. Is there a tutorial or can someone send me instructions on how to make a paperbag album? Decorating would be no problem, it is the construction of the album that is a mystery to me.
Most of them have 4-5 standard size or jumbo lunch bags. You can also buy colored ones at Micheals.
Start with one bag laying horizontal, bottom flap of the bag facing up and on your right side. The next bag should have the bottom flap on your left side, with the flap still facing up. Continue to put the bags down, alternating the direction each time. Once you have all your bags down, just fold in half.
As far as holding them together, there are many ways to to this. I've seen 1/4 inch holes punched every 1/2 inch down the "bound" side with tons of ribbon used to decorate. Binder rings, larger brads, staples and sewing are just some of the ways I've seen these done.
I hope these are clear directions. I can see it perfectly in my mind!
Can you please share your tips and tricks about making these albums. I am a K teacher and we will be making them for Mother's Day. I am going to glue some printed paper to the inside pages..any tricks. Also, what are some easy ideas to put in there? We are going to make a puzzle card where the kids will write something to their Mom...Also, ideas about adhering pages etc..thanks
Use about 3 bags and alternate them so the top of one bag is next to the bottom of the next bag. This will give you a pull out on every other page. Also, bind the book last, and make sure you remove any pull out pages beofre you bind it. Here is a link to one I designed: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers. The eaiset way to bind it is to just punch two 1/8" holes on the fold, and thread ribbon through!!! They are so easy - just have fun with it!!!

Hi all you creative women,
Could someone tell me how or guide me to instructions for a paper bag album? I would like to know how you attach the bags together & how you get the sewing on some of the pages? What do you attach the cardstock, etc. on with? Thanks in advanced for all your info.

I am in the process of making one of these myself and I have a question? I seen these before with things inside you pull out? Do you cut the pieces that are not open on each side? Like the bottom flap of each bag on each side? Just wondering how you made yours? Any info would help!! Thanks, Angela
I took some pictures for the visual learners out there. I only used 2 regular size lunch bags. If you want more then 4 pages, just add more lunch bags.
Step one:
Position your lunch bags on top of each other. Alternate the open side one on the left, one on the right. If you have more then two lunch bags, just keep alternating.
Step two:
Line your lunch bags up perfectly and fold them all in half.
Step three:
Sew the pages together close to the fold to keep pages together.
Step four:
Start decorating your front and pages. Add hidden pages or journaling in the open sides of the lunch bags.
Variations:
- Try different size or color lunch bags.
- Bind your pages together by punching holes on the spine and tie them together with ribbon.
- Bind them together with a binding tool like Bind-it-all or Rubicoil.
- Use eyelets, brads, paperclips to keep your pages together.
Coincidentally, I just made my first one last night & it came out so cute! It's true, they are addicting! JanTink also has a great tutorial for these. It's very satisfying because they go together so quickly.

I just made one of my husband's birthday pictures with our youngest grandson and it turned out wonderful. My grandson had a great time with it.
( he is 10 )
All you have to do is take a couple of lunch sacks (or however many you want) and put one on top of the other but in opposite directions. Fold them in half and punch holes along the folded side and tie ribbon or whatever you want to bind them. You can even staple them together if you want. Then, just adhere cardstock to the pages and decorate. You can use the bag openings for tags, extra pictures, or hidden journaling. I hope I explained this ok! Have you looked under Resources to see if the directions were in there somewhere?
