Default I wanted to share an idea for the paper purses....

I hope this is the right forum to post this on. I wanted to thank all who posted purse templates, as I have been having so much fun making them. I wanted to tell you what I have been using for the handles for some of them. I make paper beads, and I have been attaching those to wire along with mini pony beads or whatever I have that is small, and they really look nice with the paper purses. I have to teach a paper crafts class, and paper purses, and paper lamp shades are going to be the topic this time. I think the paper beads would look nice hanging from the paper shades for the wine glass tea lights too.

Ooh, that sounds cool! Could you post directions for making the beads? I've seen some done by cutting a long triangle of paper and then rolling it up. Are yours like that? I'd love to see!

Hi! Yes the beads are made from the really long triangles. I wixh I could post a pic, but I don't have a way at this time. I am hoping I get my new computer next month after income tax, and a digital camera too! I think I saw some wineglass tea lights somewhere in the gallery, maybe? If not iI will try and find a picture of one someplace to show you. They are really nice! Michelle

I forgot to add how I made the beads! I just cut a long skinny triange about maybe 4 inches long, with the largest part of the triangle being about 1/2 inch. Then I get a skewer or a toothipick(round kind) and roll the paper from the large end to the skinny end of the triangle on the toothpick. While I am rolling, I am using thinned elmers glue on a little paintbrush. I paint the glue on the triangle while I am rolling it so is sticks to itself while rolling. Make sure you keep the paper straight while rolling so the bead graduates itself on both sides of the bead, while being a little fat in the middle. Then I slip it off, let it dry good which is really quick. Afterr I make a bunch, I paint them with clear nail polish so they are shiny, and if I make necklaces your body oils won't ruin them. I am sure this is not clear enough, so I am going to try to find a link for some real directions! Michelle

Default How do I find the templates?

I am so lost here, this site is overwhelming but I love it. I can't find hardly anything, lol, I'm not very pc literate. So where do I go to see these templates (or even the actual card purses!) They sound so cute, thanks for posting this!

I was playing around the other day and made a paper bead, used embossing powder and pearl ex on it and put it on this card. I enjoyed that and want to do more. Now you have given me ideas on how to do them right AND other uses for them. Thanks for the information. My attempt is at: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Question:
When you make the beads, do you use cardstock or a lighter weight paper? What do you think looks the best/works the best?

TIA,

If you go to the gallery and type purse in the search, you will come up with many different pics. Some templates too. I've pasted a couple links that have pics and templates.

Make sure you are signed in otherwise you might not be able to see some of the pics.

When I make paper beads, I paint them with Crystal Effects instead of clear nail polish. It works great too!

I just noticed someone asked what kind of paper I use. I use the lighter weight, not cardstock! And Crystal Effects, is that from SU I assume? I cannot wait to go to my first party. It is on Monday night and I am so excited! Michelle
