Lumiere is a pearly paint. The Lumiere SU sells is Pearl White, and can be mixed with Pearl Ex to add shimmer to projects. You can also use it as a base to paint dominos and then stamp directly on them (still needs to be sealed)

I bought the Lumiere and I have every PE color out there (well, last one arrives today). I tried putting a little PE on some aluminum foil and then mixed it with the Lumiere and the results weren't that great. What am I doing wrong? Can I dip the brush straight into the lumiere and then the PE? Will it ruin my PE? Can someone help, please!
I use lumiere with pearl ex. I basically mix it together on a "palette" (fancy word for paper plate) and I use it to watercolor images. I also use it by itself, just brush a coat over the cs to give it a subtle shimmer.
I should be more specific...I used it today to paint the little girl. I have used it with Stipple butterfly, a few other line art sets as well. I'd like to try a vintage collage with it. I think it would look cool to give the paper a vintage/aged feel, but with a little twist.
I mix Lumiere with Pearl Ex and apply it like paint. I made a card at my monthly demo meeting using the foam shapes (cased from my upline). I took a foam heart, heated it up with the heat tool, stamped it with the heart in Simple Sketches then painted it (I dipped the brush in Lumiere then dipped into Aztec Gold PE then applied it to the heart image). I uploaded the card to my gallery if you want to view it.
Another technique is the Faux Mother of Pearl background. You take a crumpled piece of plastic wrap (saran) and dip it into the small amount of lumiere in the cap. Then dab the lumiere all over glossy cardstock. Use a light touch. You can either leave the background as is or you can brayer it with a colored ink. Then stamp it however you like.
There are some cards in the gallery that feature this technique. You can do a search for them either by "lumiere" or "faux mother of pearl".
Lumiere is a pearlescent type paint (I'm thinking acrylic base, not sure, though) made by the same company that makes Pearl Ex powders. It is really great to mix w/ Pearl Ex. and it can be diluted to give different coverages. SU! sells Lumiere in a pearl color, although I believe there are other colors out there. HTH.
does anyone know if Michaels has it and in what dept.
I was looking for it by the pearl ex and didn't see it and the very helpfull people that work there didn't have a clue :confused:

Michael's sell Lumiere in the weirdest part of the store. It's near the fabric paint section along side the glitter. At least that's where its at in my Michaels. I hope this helps.
Yes they sell Pearl ex it is about $40 bucks for the package of all the colours I think 8 or 10. they also sell pearl ex mettalics too.
I own a few of the pearl ex's but havn't had much luck I need to get a thing to make them show up on dark papers.
Did you try versamark? You can versamark your image and then using the stipple brush lightly cover the image with pearl ex. If you don't have a stipple brush you may be able to use a regular paint brush or even a cotton ball.

There are many ways to use lumiere. You can use it by itself and paint it on with a paint brush, you can mix it with pearl ex and paint it on, etc...You can use it on just about anything, cardstock, cd's, acetate, coasters, etc... Go to the forum for techniques, put in a search for huge list and click on list of stamping techniques ( something like that). This document is over 100 pages long and I am sure that there are ideas for luminiere. Hope this helps!!
I used it to paint my snow on a snowman card for a class...they LOVED it!! So much fun and pretty, also used for the faux mother of pearl...look in resources for the tutorial!

Two of the easiest techniques are to 1) mix Lumiere with pearl Ex and use it as an "ink" or as a "paint" and 2) on glossy cardstock, take plastic wrap and wad it up. Lightly dip it into Lumiere, apply to cardstock. Let it dry. Use an inkpad direct to paper over the whole piece then use Stazon to stamp an image on the background. You can then color parts if you choose. This is called Faux Mother Of Pearl
Lumiere is a light-bodied acrylic paint, so you can use it for most things that you would use acrylic paint for - ie balsa wood, etc. You can also mix it with reinker drops, and color it that way. I haven't tried anything with chipboard accents, but I bet the lumiere, colored with pearl ex or reinkers would look great painted on those.
