Making Photo Clips from UM Wood Blocks

I'm unmounting my stamps & would like to use some of the blocks to create photo clips.

Have you done this?

Can you share photos of the finished clips & instructions, advice?

Naturally, I'd like to do them for Christmas gifts (I never think of things too far in advance...).

I thought about making a few of these using Tim Holtz memo pins. My plan was to drill a very narrow hole on an end and use a strong glue to hold the pins in place. Instead of holding a photo, I wanted to make several to hold decorated cards with letters on them so I could spell out various words:
W E L C O M E
S U M M E R
B I R T H D A Y
C H R I S T M A S
etc.

I have since changed my mind because I can't bring myself to unmount my stamps.
