So, I saw these things at convention and fell in love with them. I love to water color, and think they work great. I always tell my customers that I don't ever buy something unless I can use it at least 3 different ways. So, here is my problem... I have planned an advanced technique workshop in November focusing on how to use the aquapainter. What are all the different uses?
1.) Water coloring with ink
2.) Water coloring with pearl ex
What else? What are we doing with the aqua painter and bleach? Post what new techniques you have come up with. I am especially interested in techniques that require other SU products, pearl ex, etc.
You can tear the edges of your cardstock, run the aquapainter over the torn, absorbent part, then curl the edges up in your fingers for a slightly different, irregular look.
You can also put futura floor was in the barrel, and use it with pearl ex to automatically seal the powder onto the cardstock. I would make sure that you rinse out the barrel and tip when you are finished.
I saw the Future Floor Wax idea here and was so excited that I decided to try it. The card turned out beautiful but my Aqua Painter brushes are now only half as long as they were to begin with. I cleaned the brush tip and the barrell with warm soapy water (mild soap) but now the bristles have been eaten about half way down.
Maybe I did something else wrong but I can't imagine what. Just thought I might put my experience out here. If anyone has any ideas on what happened to my brush, I would love to hear them.
Yikes! I was thinking of putting some Future floor wax in my aqua painter but not after reading this, unless there is an explanation anyone knows about??
I read - but haven't tried - that you can use water color pencils on coloring books (I'd look for those with thicker paper). Put some color close to the lines of the images - then you can give your kids the Aqua Painters for car trips or in a restaurant - no spills...
Add bleach and bleach out embossed outline images. I have a few samples in the DD gallery this month. Went a bit crazy with this one stamp and all different way to use the bleach! LOL
I got a set of "cheapie" water brushes from some sweet angel here on SCS (love ya, RM!) and chose one for the future floor wax...and it will always be full of Future (the best place I can think of to use it....no, I don't wax my floors!!) wax.
I've never rinsed it cuz that aquapen is specifically for that!

I just checked my aqua painter that has future floor wax in it. The bristles are fine on mine, and not eaten away at all. I do store my painter with the future all down in the barrel and the bristles up at the top, with no floor wax on them. They do not get stiff that way. In fact I checked the one I use for bleach as well, and it is fine too. I got mine from Micheal's. Hope this helps.

I also have my aqua painter on hand to wet the edges of my mulberry paper to fray it easier and also use my aqua painters to do the licking of my envelopes :-)
( I just hate that taste on envelopes ) Thank you aqua painters :-) when all the back ordering seems to get better I will buy 2 extra sets I just love them

I would love to add my expertise to this thread but I can't - my aquapainters haven't arrived yet! I've been waiting for over a month for these. Poor, poor me! I'll just have to save this thread for later so I can use all your great ideas!
I just did a demonstration on the Aqua Painter for a meeting that my upline held for members of her downline. I showed many different samples and techniques. I also typed up the attached Tip Sheet at gave to anyone who wanted it.
Hope it helps!
post edited to attach the correct document. I really need to start going to bed earlier (or sleeping in later)
I just first used these at our Northwoods gathering, now I GOTTA have it... my DH says I seem to say that about a lot of stuff since I got back from that!! ;)
To Stacey! Just know that the wait will be worth it!! I ordered my aqua painter the first week of August and it didn't arrive until the first week of October - but I love it -- I filled one with Future and I've not noticed any problem with the bristles getting stiff or becoming shorter yet. It does give a wonderful look with that pearl ex!

Thanks for the encouragement, Kathy. I know it will be worth the wait. I'm just anxious to play. And I keep telling everyone at my stamp camps how great I think they will be, but I can't show them yet! Maybe the next one....
is the tip sheet atachment above just card samples using the aquapainter, or is there supposed to be a list as well... i didn't see anything other than card pics. am i doing something wrong? trying to decide if i should order these next. if you ladies are any clue - they are a must have...

I like to use it for speckling the paper like on the cover of the latest Stampin' Success. I'm a little nervous about doing this at a workshop, though, because I don't want to flick on someone's silk blouse or my hostess's oriental rug
Thank you so much for the tips. I haven't had the nerve to break out the Aqua pens yet because I don't think I am artistic. Of course, now I have to buy the In Full Bloom set! I didn't realize that it was so beautiful.

AAAKKK!!! I attached the wrong file!! Go back up to my post and now there are 2 attachments. The second one (in cap. letters) is the tip sheet. The pictures are samples I found in the gallery that I used to get some ideas when I was just starting to use my AP's.
See what happens when I post after midnight! My mind starts slowing down!
