I plan to stamp on the material, so it is, but it is a "craft show" kinda thing too.
Anyway, does anyone know how to make those memory board thingies? The ones that use a board or cardboard covered with material, then has criss-crossed ribbons that you tuck pictures into to hold the pictures in place.
My mother made one for my DD room. She bought a pattern from Joann's for baby things. It also included patterns for curtains, bumper pad, quilt, pillow, bed skirt, etc. I know she used two foam boards and decorative elastic that I think is called rick rack. She hot glued decorative buttons at most of the places that the rick rack intersect. Ours is a Noah's ark them, so I cut shanks off of animal buttons for her to use. Hope this helps.
I made one of these a few months ago for my friend's daughter. I don't believe there is a pattern for it. All I did was use 2 12x12 CS, corkboard, ribbon, and brads. I took one cs and stamped all over it. Cut it down a little so when you layer it, you can see the other cs. Then you cut your corkboard to size, I then too the ribbon and layed it out in one direct (using tape to hold it down on the back of corkboard),then you go the other way. Put the brads where the two ribbons meet. Punch two holds at the top and thread your ribbon through to make a hanger. I hope that helped a little bit.
I made three of these for christmas. I used a 16X20 art canvas from michaels. I then used some batting that was cut to 16X20 just enough to cover the canvas. I took and cut the fabric 2 and 1/4 inches bigger and made a hem and stapled the fabric tightly to the canvas with an industrial stapler. I pulled the fabric enough to make it smooth but puffy. Then I took the ribbon and made a pattern and where the ribbon crossed I used E6000 to glue the crossing of the ribbon down and placed a decorative button on. They were so cute.
I'm new to this and can tell there is a lot of information on this site!! I'm not certain if this is the right thread to be posting so I'll apologize up front if it's not. I'm wondering if anyone has a template, directions, examples, etc. of covering an 8 1/2 x 11 composition theme notebook. If you would email them to me directly, I'd sure appreciate it. (I haven't figured out how to open attachments yet on this site!) Thanks for all and any help.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

There was a segment on Carol Duvall - might have been on Friday. Mauybe if you do a search on HGTV.com, under Carol Duvall show, and shows for last week you might find it - the memory board, that is. Sorry I can't be more specific and don't have time to check on it for you. Good luck. (We are leaving for a cruise later this morning and need to finish up last minute details- so won't be back here for a couple of weeks.)
