Hi! I want to make those little hot cocoa bags that look like an ice cream cone. They are sooo cute. Does anyone have directions on how to make them and where to find the baggies at? Maybe even what size the baggies are or what type so I can try to find some? I think the rest is self explanatory but if you have any tips or tricks for this I would still appreciate it. This will be my first attempt so any help will be great!
I have a whole bunch I need to make for little family gifts and gifts for teachers ect.
Thanks, Angela
I have not personally made these but I have read the directions on them!
What you will need is the Wilton Frosting bags. You can usually purchase these at a craft store such as Michael's or JoAnn's.
If you are going to stamp on the outside of them I would suggest you purchase Staz On ink in whatever color you will be using. It will take a few minutes to dry but won't rub off!
I got my bags from Walmart in the cake decorating section for $3.96 for a box of 12. Family Fun suggests using 2 bags to keep the cocoa separate from the choc. chips/marshmallows. I only use one bag and just keep the bags from tipping over as the cocoa will migrate up and brown your marshmallows. Lynn
TIP: put the cocoa in one cone bag, tie off, and slip that inside another cone bag...it keeps things cleaner. Just top with mini mallows, choc. chips or mini kisses and tie with perty ribbon. I add a mini candy cane as well on the outside of the bag OR some peppermint candies inside. They really are a hit, es[ecially with kids
I made them this year for craft fairs. They were a big hit. I found the cello bags on line at www.nashvillewraps.com. It may be a wholesale vendor, but google cello bags and you should find something. The size I used was 6X12 Also check any local places that sell gift basket supplies. Like trulyblessed stated I put the cocoa in one cone cello tied it with a little twist tie, trimmed off the excess cello and slipped into another cello cone. I topped it with the candy or chips first and then added the mini marshmallows. I tied the top with an elastic and then tied with ribbon and a computer generated tag on how to make it as mine made enough for 2 cups. Hope that helps! Colette
You can also find the bags at Meijers. When i put the cocoa in, I use a funnel.. doesn't get cocoa all over the bag as I only use the one bag too. I have used peanut butter chips, vanillia chips, peppermint pieces instead of the chocolate chips. Have fun... I just made 20 for dd#2 to take to school!
Thanks so much everyone for all of your help!! I do greatly appreciate all the tips. It will make things so much easier. Does anyone have any pics of theirs they can send or are they posted so I can check them out? Also so you put the cocoa in, then the candy or choc. chips, then the marshmallows, did I get that right? And what do you mean by you use 2 bags and cut the excess cello off? I guess if anyone has pics that would help so I can make sure to get this right.
Thanks everyone again!!
Merry Christmas!!

I got a box of 100 of the disposable decorating bags at AC Moore two weeks ago for just over $10!!! It was originally $16.99 but I used the 40% off coupon. I made my homemade hot chocolate mix and layered it with Andes crumbled baking bits then mini marshmallows. Very cute!!
