Question Need info on altering drink holders

Does anyone have any suggestions/tips for altering those 4 or 6 pack cardboard drink holder packages? I've seen some very cute ones and have no idea how to do them. Thanks!

I've just covered them with paper and added some ribbon.

I just made a template of each side for my drink holder then cut out each piece based on the template. I covered all sides with card stock then patterned paper, but you can cover it with just patterned paper if you prefer.

I've seen them spray painted with Krylon for Plastic first, then accented with patterned papers, ribbons and embellishments...
