I apologize if this has already been posted. I always think I've "discovered" something, only to have somebody crash my ego and tell me it's already been done.
I just got my first set of Nestabilities....the classic rectangle set. I discovered that if I want a square, I can just run it through a second time to cut off the long end and it works perfectly for both the straight sides and the scallops! They line up perfectly.
I tried doing the embossing the same way, and for reasons unknown to me at this time anyway, the embossing does not get as deep on the last side as the other three. So I will continue to figure out the embossing. But at least the cutting works and I don't have to plunk down money for the square Nesties until I have all the other shapes I want.
I did try that a while ago, but I couldn't get it to line up well (I was only trying the scallops). It kept trimming the scallops on the far corners - and looked *ahem* 'not pretty'!
I'll have to try again!

I'm not sure if how you cut off the rectange to make it a square? can u explain how u do that? I already bought the square...darn it! I should have bought the rectangles first if I'd known. But I guess I can purchase the rectangles & then sell the squares once i figure out how u do it. Thanks!

I'll give it a shot. What makes a rectangle a rectangle is that one side is longer. You want to get rid of the extra length on that one side. So cut your rectangle, turn it around in the die so that the excess hangs over the edge, and cut again. If you are using the scallop dies, the scallops will fit right back into the die perfectly (at least that's my experience). Corners even come out great. The only thing I haven't perfected is embossing. That final side always comes out a little fainter than the other three.
I hope this makes sense. Basically you are just recutting the excess off to make it square.
but i can`t get them most likely til christmas! i`m putting in my request now santa ! ;) lol! your idea sounds good too,so i`ll have to bookmark it!take care ladies!
Oh darn! I wish I'd read this a few hours ago....that'll learn me! I just ordered the large classic square nesties from Joann.com. That seemed to be the only one they would let me use the 20% off coupon of the week on. Poo....I should have at least checked the rectangle ones for coupon compatibility too....those would have stretched my dollar so much more!
Oh well - good tip for others anyways! And hey, for anyone who wants enabling, Joann's let me use their 20% discount coupon this week on the large classic scallop nesties set - just in case you want that (and you might want to check on the rectangles!). They wouldn't let me use it for the circles though. :(
This is a good idea, I have all the rectangles but just some of the squares. Now I don't have to buy the rest. Oh, by the way. A less expensive way to buy them is at Cut at Home http://www.ucutathome.com/ Sign up for their VIP coupon and you get to use the 40% off coupon once a month. They sell the large packs of Nestabilities (4 pack large/small regular and scallops) for $79 but with the coupon it comes out to about $52 including shipping. You end up getting 4 sets for the price of 2. Then wait for the next month and get another.

Reason: forgot something
Thanks for the e-mail address, I have one set now and love the "Nesties". I plan on getting more, as far, as I have found, that is the best price I have hear about. I wish I had read this before too, I have the scallops squares, I thought I would use them alot and I have, so I'm happy with them. I'm going to check out that web site. Thanks again. Elaine
I don't mean to hyjack the thread, and I love the look of all the nesties but this is one item I have yet to purchase...I guess i need to see how these are used hands on before i jump in. I'm sure once I see how it's done i will need them all! lol

Awesome! Before I start buying all the sets;) , I was wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the Lg., Small, & Petite scalloped circle sets.
Anyone?...Anyone?:(

For circle and scalloped circle Nesties there are the Petites and the Classics/standard and each of these groups has both large and small. The Petite small circles start at 3.50" and step down (7-dies) in 1/8" increments. I believe the Petite Large circles start at 3.75" and step down at 1/8" increments. For the Classic the small start at 4.0" and the large start at 4.2" and step down in 1/4" increments.
The rectangles also come in Mega in addition to petite and classic/standard. The Mega are actually longer so the ratio of length to width in the Mega is different from the other rectangle sets.
Cutathome.com has the dimensions listed in the description.

Katie, you are nestie lover now too, huh!?? I am addicted. Overstock.com is where I've gotten my couple of sets. How much were they at JoAnn's?
How are you?

I agree with Lemonie--the "best" price's are at ucutathome.com. I love my nestie's & thanks to Sandy's tip I won't be buying the squares just yet, I bought rectangles & ovals using the 40% off coupons! Thanks again
ok this is actually very cool, even if you have the squares and the rectangles already. The reason I say this is because, the scallops on the squares are larger than those on the rectangles. I just used the rectangle that has 8 scallops on the short edge and turned it into an 8 scalloped square. There's a 7 scallop square that has slightly larger scallops but the finished product is still a bit smaller than the one I created using the rectangle. So now I can layer them. I'm going to try this with the really long rectangles next. Their scallops are even smaller.
