Default Okay, I tried DTP and I am officially in LOVE!!!!

This 'direct to paper' technique was scaring me to death, I thought it would 'look' like I was trying to be messy. I was not even sure how to do it. I finally worked up the courage to try it and, OH!!!! If you have not tried this yet, I recommend it. I can see that I'm going to be doing this a LOT!!!!!!!! It turns out distressed, not controlled messy like I was afraid of. Just thought I'd share!

Default your DTP creations...

Hopefully you will share with us all the DTP creations that you are coming up with. I for one would love to see them. If you do post them, please let us know where your gallery is so that we can all take a look...

Now for me to get up the courage to try DTP too.

I love DTP! One of my favorite techniques!

for those who don't know, It stands for Direct to Paper, its when you apply your ink pad directly to your paper w/out a stamp. It gives your paper kind of a distressed look. Here is one from my gallery if you need a visual. I also find it works better if I am actually holding the paper in my hand.

I should have elaborated on this technique, as I myself, was just asking the same thing a few weeks ago! You open your ink pad all the way, and hold your paper in your hand. Run the edge of the stamp pad on/over the edge of the paper. I go around all the edges of the paper, it's okay if you get some up onto the paper, it looks great.

Then, if I want more of a background paper effect (REALLY COOL!!!!) I put the paper on the table and still using the edge of the pad, just lightly brush it in short strokes over the paper. I turn my paper 1/4 turns and do it from each direction, this way it get's more evenly distributed.

Believe me, just give it a try and you'll see what I mean. I just did a scrapbook page and used this technique on the background instead of actually stamping something! Oh yeah, you might want to make sure you don't have a really wet/juicy pad, as it tends to put too much ink on the paper. Hope that helps!!

Yep, once I found it I had to force myself to stop doing it. It's great with the Canvas background stamp (something else I've had to force myself to stop using).
