Once upon a time I saw a card that used bowtie pasta (uncooked) for a butterfly. It had wire to make the "body" and antennaes. My question is has anyoneelse seen something like this?? I have been looking for a while on SCS to find an example but haven't been able to. Then the second part of my question: does anyone have a great idea how to color the pasta to make the butterflies prettier? Thanks in advance for your help!
I'm exactly like you- I've had the pasta sitting in my craft room-- my New Year's resolution was to use some of this stuff I've been hoarding so I thought it was time to use the noodles! The link that movin' Mel posted is just what I was looking for. The card that I was remembering had this kind of a butterfly inside the card and they used a big cirlce punch on the outside. I'm going to try something like the layout challenge SC93 with these. I hope they turn out like I'm imagining.
Love the butterflies. Thanks for the idea. Has anyone tried these Pasta Angels for Christmas? I have - they're so easy and very cute to use as a tree decoration or gift accent. I don't use the ribbon in the front though - prefer to fold a small piece of cardstock into an "open book" shape (printed on the computer with music on it!) and glue that in place of the velvet ribbon. I've also used little 3D stars instead of the 'book'. http://blog.thesilentk.com/?p=130

I use little gold washers from the hardware store as halos and you can also use different products for hair, e.g. wool, string, fibers, Beedz (hole-less beads), seed beads or anything else you can think of that looks suitable to glue onto the top of the head. I usually paint a face on my heads too - just 2 little U-shapes for closed eyes and a dot for the mouth. Before you add the final touches (book, hair, halo) you can spray paint the angel in the co-ordinating colors for your tree decor. Just my 2c worth anyway ...! (I would post a pic of mine but they are packed away in the Christmas decoration box until Dec.!)
