Default Question about crayon resist

Brayer over the image or use sponges to cover the entire glossy cardstock piece.

Ok, I'm confused. Brayer or sponges? Can someone clear this up for me? Do the transfer the image using the brayer?

Do I sponge with color first, then transfer my image with the brayer?

Thanks guys...

You need to stamp your image and then color with your white crayon where you want it to show up. Then sponge or brayer your colors on and wipe off the ink that lands on the crayoned marks to make it pop more. Hope that helps. It's really easy and fun! Good luck!

There's a great step-by-step tutorial written for this technique if you click at the top on "resources" and then look for Crayon Resist.

Steph -
I just learned this technique for a swap! It was so much fun, but it took me a bit to get the hang of it.

This is what I did:

1. Stamped image using black ink on the white glossy card stock. In fact, I stamped the image that I was using for my card all over the card stock (I was going to cut it out later), so I tried to get as many of them as I could on one sheet of paper.
2. Using the white crayon, I colored in where I wanted white to show through on my image ... in the beginning I was very careful about the coloring ... but I found that for my project ... that I liked the random look much better. I just sort of scribbled a bit here and there on my image.
3. I then used my brayer and the ink of my choice ... and brayered the whole sheet of card stock.
4. Using a paper towel, I then rubbed off the crayon. Since the crayon is being rubbed off, I don't think it matters what color your crayon is. This is what got me confused in the beginning.

The effect is very pleasing to one's eye.

Hope this helps,
Kimberly

Steph, the brayer/sponge is an either/or option. You don't need both for this techniqued.

After you stamp your outline image and then put your crayon on you put color on the images and surronding area with a brayer OR a sponge.

With the brayer you would be applying "bands" of color (or multiple colors if you use a spectrum pad). You can color the whole cardfront really fast with just a pass or two of the brayer.

Or you can ink up a sponge and dab or swirl color on.

Whether you use a brayer or sponge just depends on what you have on hand and what look you want to achieve.

Hope that helps.
