Does anyone have the directions on how to do the salted background technique? Much thanks in advance.

Default salt

I saw this technique on DIY scrapbooking I think. You get your paper wet (they used white), and use a brush to "paint" reinker all over the paper (1 or more colors). Make sure to keep the paper wet. Then you sprinkle salt all over the paper (I've seen it done with thick or regular salt). Then you let it dry and brush the salt off. It should be lighter under where you sprinkled salt. HTH and I hope I gave you the right directions. LOL

This is how I do this technique. I am sure there are many ways that work wonderfully.

I use glossy cardstock. Sometimes I spritz with water before I put the ink on the paper. I either brayer the background (spectrum pads are neat for this) or stamp an image. Then I get the paper wet and sprinkle with salt. I use both rock salt and table salt at the same time to get a variety of texture on the same page. I let it dry and wipe the salt off. Any kind of salt should work.

When I used the spectrum pad I didn't like some areas and I liked others. So you may want to make more than you think you will need.

HTH!

Sounds like another technique I will have to try next weekend while Chris is with the boys in Reno. Thanks for sharing!

You can just knock some of the salt off your margarita. And if you sont like the results, just have another drink. It will start to look better. ;)
