Default So what can you do with Utee?

Besides the cracked glass technique, what other things can one use Utee for?

Smile Lots of things!

Just this weekend, my friend was making lollipops for invitations she's doing for someone. She cut out various sizes of circles and layered them to look like lollipops and then covered them in 3 layers of UTEE. It was awesome looking!!! Before then, she had used UTEE on wedding invitations she had made for someone else. It just helped the embossing look a little more professional. UTEE just has more texture. Hope that helps!

I stamp on squares or rectangles of mat board (like what you use for framing), and then cover the whole thing with several layers of UTEE. It becomes a very lightweight tile that you can use on cards or in scrapbooking.

I do this too and after the last coat (while it's still warm), you can take a stamp and ink it up with say gold ink and then stamp into the warm utee and it will leave a lovey impression. It won't hurt the stamp. The utee only stays warm a very short time so you have to work quickly between coats.

Also as you are adding the layer upon layer of utee, you can throw in different colors of embossing power for just a hint of color, I like to add a little copper or bronze or both. You can also add little beads. I do the entire process in a shoe box so the utee doesn't get blown all over the place. Just make sure you have your item on a non-stick sheet or you won't be able to get it off the box when done.

I made a heart shaped piece once and probably used 8 layers. I put it on a vintage card I made and it won second place at a contest at a local stamp store. It was the heart that made the card.

I use it to do emboss-resist when I want a chunky batik look. Works great with the retired Beautiful Batik set, and would also work well with Paint Prints.

I made tree ornaments- recycled a juice lid, cut a picture the size of the lid, punched a hole in the top. stamped in versamark, utee, heated, add more utee, heat again for the glossy finish.

Do you have any pictures of these? If so, I'd love to see one.

Thanks for asking this question Virginia! I think I may have to get myself some. Now...who knows of a good, online source? Or maybe I should make a run to Crafter's Warehouse or Michaels?
