Spectrum pads

I see so many who are able to use spectrum pads and get a great amount of blending between colors. I just seem to make a mess! What am I doing wrong?

I had the same problem too until I used GLOSSY cardstock and it blends great now!

I too had this issue, but as the OP said, I use it on glossy and the look is amazing! You can see what I mean on the top card here:

I get my best results with glossy. I ink my brayer and leave the Spectrum pad in the 'open' position- the colors do meld a bit but you don't get obvious lines.

Make sure that the pad is well inked or evenly inked. And make sure you use the correct reinker for each section- not say the deep blue on a purple section ;) And if you do reink the wrong section paper towels are your friend!

*I always use your brayer in 1 direction- I roll pick up the brayer and roll again from the original starting point. This is the main thing that REALLY helped me brayer well.

If you are using a Sepctrum pad to ink a stamp I sometimes rub the stamp across the pad to load the color and then tap the stamp on the ink pad to make sure I get a good coat of ink.
