How does one remove the seal for the projects using the Starbucks Frappucno bottles? I know one easy thing would be just to cover the label completely with patterned/decorated paper. I actually want to put a narrow strip of paper around it so people can see the contents of the bottle. (Plus I don't want them to see the label from inside the bottle .
I have used nail polish remover. It takes a little time, but works perfectly!!! I have a picture on my blog of one I did, too. Check under Winter Mini Samples.

I just pull the labels off, they remove quite easily once you get a corner loosened. Then I use alcohol and a cotton swab to remove the remaining glue only on the sections that will be above your decorating. The remaining glue is just a bonus to holding paper on the jar.
I use Goo Gone. Also on the Rachel Ray show, there was a girl on there from
Design on a Dime with tips and she says she uses Vodka! She says it takes off all labels and leftover gooy stuff on bottles, mirrors etc
O.k. so this works great thanks to my DH. Pull the labels off (once you get a corner lifted) and then spray the bottle with WD40. Let it soak for a little bit, probably 15 minutes and then the sticky stuff will wipe right off. Hope this helps!

Can you imagine what it does to our insides? ;)

Have you tried "warming" the bottle in the microwave and then trying to peel the label off? That's what I do with wine labels that I want to keep... warming tends to loosen the glue. Hope this helps!
I soak mine to get the biggest part off. Then take a napkin with vegetable oil and rub it on the sticky stuff, you may have to use one of those scrapers to get burned stuff off of pots and pans. Vegetable oil also works to get sticky off the front of picture frames.
un-du is my absolute favorite for anything sticky in the universe. It makes the stickers not sticky for a few seconds and then they get sticky again. So work on a small area with a paper towel (then move to a different area of the paper towel, because after a few seconds you will just be rubbing the sticky back onto the bottle ! ) it is smelly, but it works like crazy! It has a little plastic scraper thing on the top of the bottle to help you peel things up.
sometimes you can get a larger container of it (or goo-gone too) at WalMart or at home depot or places where they have it in the adhesives section. The most expensive place to buy it is a scrapbook store usually.

I fill mine with water and put them in the microwave then the labels
just pull right off. HTH Tanya
After the label comes off, what are you using the bottles for?
You can decorate the bottles all cute and fill them with little things like ribbon, buttons, etc. I know there are some really cute ones in the gallery.

You can pretty much use any kind of oil-based lubricant to break up an adhesive.
I tend to not use goo gone or oil based lubricants since we are on septic, but what I do to get them off is to fill the bottles with as hot of water as I can get and let them sit for about 5 minutes, then I pull the label off, any residue is easily removed with a green scrubby (greeny meany), that you get at the store to do your dishes with. It does not scratch the glass and takes off the residue and also removes the ink they put on the bottles with the date and such.

I like this idea. When I read the green scrubby part, I wondered "Hey if I was really bored, could I scratch off the inked on date with my nail?" I hope I will never be that bored, but I can scratch it off one dot at a time.
I use goo gone.. in fact the company has come out with a thicker more gel like goo gone.. It's called "pro-power spray gel" come in a bottle with a spray nozzle. I spray the goo gone on my bottles leave come back in a couple minutes (the sticky stuff will turn white), then it comes right off..
