Default Tissue Paper on Candles

I've read about Tissue Paper on candles. It sounds like a pretty interesting technique. I was just wondering.... does it burn with the rest of the candle? How do you glue it to the candle? It doesn't burn like regular paper?

Thanks for the help!

Default Tissue Paper and Stamping

Hi!

Tisuue Paper and Candles are a great way to stamp on candles! So easy!

First, you stamp on the tissue paper, and then cut out you image. Then you wrap the tissue image around the candle, and then wrap wax paper over the tissue, and the candle. Then you heat up the wax paper, and you will see it melt, and then tissue paper adheres to the candle with the wax from the wax paper. You don't want to overheat, then you will start to melt the actual candle, and ruin the shape of theit. When the whole image has been melted on, let cool. Blow on the candle, and then slowly peel off wax paper from candle. If tissue paper comes up, re-wrap, and re-heat. It is so easy once you get the hang of it!

Have fun!

Default tissue on candles

Hi
I have also see mulberry paper used. First stamp your image on mulberry paper and emboss. Cut the image out. Use a little 2-way glue to tack the mulberry piece to the candle. Then heat area with the heat gun and roll the candle on wax paper to adhere the mulberry.

I have done the tissue paper and find some candles better than other to use. Cheaper is for the most part easier to use. Good luck. Linda

I have cut a piece of tissue paper to the height of the candle and then long enough to wrap around the whole candle. Stamp your images on the tissue paper then wrap it around the candle followed by a piece of wax paper that is cut to a little longer than the length of the tissue paper. Heat with the heat gun but be careful not to burn the paper or your fingers. The haze of the tissue paper and wax paper will disappear as you heat it and that is how you know it is melted enough.
I use my candles more for decoration but when you do burn them you are left with the shell of the tissue paper that you will just need to trim every once and a while.
Hope this gives you another view on how to do candles.

As previously noted, the tissue paper usually does not burn. However, I would suggest to trim the tissue paper down as the candle melts as it's possible for the paper to catch on fire which can be a fire hazzard. :( Unfortunately I found this out the hard way. Good luck!

Hello,

One other thing you could try is to hollow out the top of the candle so that you can fit a tealight candle into it. I had my husband use his drill press to hollow out the tops of my six inch tall candles and then inserted a tealight in the top. Works great and the stamped candle never actually burns. Just remember to use tealights that are in the plastic cups not the metal ones because the metal ones will melt the outside of the candle. Hope that helps.

I found that white candles work really well. I used silver embossing powder, and they looked beautiful. When I was taught the technique, after we pulled off the wax paper, we rubbed the candle with pantyhose to smooth it all out. Just put your hand inside the pantyhose and rub gently. Recently, I tried this similar technique on soap, as was posted on this site, but I thought, I would try colouring the image with watercolour pencils, and it looked great. Haven't tried it yet on the candles!

I have stamped on candles using tissue paper, and mulberry. I have found that If you want to stamp on a colored candle, you need to use mulberry. The tissure paper lines show up on the colored candle more than plain white. I always use waxed paper so the tissue disappears!
