Okay - I am in LOVE with the paint cans that everyone is making for baby gifts. I bought my cans and I am sat down to do it and I totally drew a blank. It's my first time!!!!
How do you get the paper around the can handles? I finally got them out, but my circle punch was too big and it shows too much of the can.
Also, what size paper should you use? 8 1/2 x 11 or 12 x 12?
I know I am probably making it harder than it is...that is probably why it is freaking me out so much!
HELP!!! Can anyone tell me what to do to make this easier?

Can I ask you where you got the paint cans from? I have a baby shower to go to and want to make one but have no idea where to get the cans!
Thanks,
Jenn
I believe you could find the new paint cans at most large home improvement stores like Lowe's, Home Depot, and our favorite, Orchard Supply Hardware. OSH has the cutest little silver paint buckets, too!
I've never done a paint can before, so sorry, I can't answer the orig poster's question. I haven't a clue!
My paint cans don't have handles, so can't help you with that problem!
My demo uses the 12 X 12 designer paper in colors that coordinate with the stamp set she is going to use, the cardstock is too thick to adhere to the can! I think you just measure the can size and cut the sheet to fit, if it doesn't quite meet, that is where you put the stamped cardstock piece on top. Oh, these are the smaller cans, I am not sure how you do the larger ones, but start out with thinner paper than cardstock!
 I have never done this but I can tell you how to get the measurements for the correct size paper.
1. measure the height of the can inbetween the upper and lower ridges of the can
2. either measure across the top of the can and multiply by 3.14and add 1 or2 inchesfor an over lap, or just wrap the tape measure around the can with the tape overlaping and that's the size of paper you'll need. HTH Dawn
What I did when I made one was doing a tearing - piecing technique. I just tore 3 different types of paper and then arranged them on the can. Didn't take a picture so can't share. But doing it this way, I didn't have to worry about seems or getting around the handle. Then I sealed the whole thing with modge podge and then added embellishments over that.
Just an idea.
