Default VELVET STAMPING

MY DH GAVE ME A BEAUTIFUL CARD FOR CHRISTMAS THAT I WANT TO DUPLICATE. HOWEVER, IT USES VELVET. MY PC MAGS ARE PACKED AWAY (MOVING TO A NEW HOUSE THIS WEEKEND) AND I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANY DETAILED DIRECTIONS FOR THIS.

I KNOW I NEED A HIGH QUALITY VELVET THAT IS THICK, BUT WHAT DO I ASK FOR AT THE FABRIC STORE. ALSO, DO I USE VERSA MARK ON THE STAMP BEFORE I PLACE THE VELVET OVER IT?

I WANT TO DO A VALENTINE'S DAY CARD FOR CLUB :-)

Beate recently uploaded a pretty little composition book to the gallery. Check out this gallery pic, and this forum thread for more info.

Default Velvet stamping

Here's one I added to my gallery not too long ago. Velvet stamping

I tried a velvet sheet and a velvet sheet with a peel off adhesive. Both worked very well for me.

This is also another awesome resource for velvet stamping. I saw her on Carol Duvall once. She also sells the velvet.

I saw a segment on velvet stamping a few years ago on Martha Stewart. Her guest made the most adorable bookmarks for friends. I love all of the ideas you have shared!!!

Default velvet stamping

You need to use RAYON velvet and you are right, it is the good stuff, but at least it only uses a little. This is done without using any kind of ink. Choose your stamp then place stamp rubber side up on flat surface. Next lay the velvet right side down on top the rubber, spritz lightly with water, then with a dry (no steam) iron, set the iron on top of the velvet. It needs to be hot, but not so hot that it burns. If you have to move the iron to cover the entire surface of the stamp, USE an up and down motion rather than a back and forth (which may move the fabric). You can carefully peek when you think that the spritzing is gone. You will be so surprised, it is really a WOW!

I love stamping on velvet. I showed it to my stamp club last year. This year I am demoing it at my make-n-take. My stamp club ladys had sooooo much fun with this that a couple of the girls did stamping on velvet for a christmas card. I know that there are instructions in the splitcoasters galleries I am not able to pull them up right know. But play around with it, most of all HAVE FUN with stamping on velvet.
