I forgot I bought a set of watercolor crayons awhile ago and found them (still not opened!) today when looking in a drawer for something else. I need to be reminded what it is I'm supposed to do with them ... please?!!!
Thanks. I know someone here will be able to give me some tips or links for ideas and inspiration. You always have all the right answers!

Take a watercolor brush and dab the end of the crayon. Then scribble it on a slick surface to make a pallette. Next use your aqua painter, water brush, or blender and get color from your pallette. Watercolor your heart out.
I use them similar to what Penny was explaining in using aqua painter or water wand (same thing). You fill the barrel of the wand with water and squeeze to push the water to the bristles of the brush. I then rub the bristles onto the crayon and then on the surface you are painting. I like the technique best when used on glossy paper after heat embossing the design but it can be used on other paper also. I just find that the glossy prevents distortion to the paper from it getting wet. Also if you go out of the line you can wipe it off with a wet cloth when using glossy. The glossy I’m using is not the real shiny type.
You can mix colors the way Penny mentioned but I just do it right from the crayon. I never take them out of the metal box they came in, except that one time my husband spilled them all over the floor. These are not the type of crayons to use for the resist technique. If you don’t have the water wand just try it with a regular brush.
I like Beate’s and HTH’s ideas too, I’m trying those next. Oh man! They’ll have to come out of the box now!
I use mine a lot for batik resist- stamp image in clear, emboss in clear, use crayons to color, then I go over with a wet brush or aqua pen, or spray with water. Then I place image between 2 pieces of newsprint and iron. Then I can go back and highlight areas of or around the image with metallic pencils. You can also take a aqua pen and rub it on the crayon to get some color on the brush and then paint as you would with regular watercolors. I also use them like iwasborntostamp but on block stamps- very pretty with flowers too- check out heroarts.com or pennyblackinc.com
Where do you get watercolor crayons? I've looked at M*chaels but am not sure what I'm looking for exactly... can anyone tell me what brand names to look for, etc?
My sister in law found my set of crayons at a convention but I have seen them in the stamp stores and with different brand name.
I bought a set at Joann's for a couple dollars thinking I found what I wanted but they didn't work.
I got mine at Michaels and they are back with the art supplies and they come in sets with a smaller number or a larger number and guess what I had to have! But the good news is you can ALWAYS use your coupon on these because they aren't on sale. I have been using them alot lately because I love the colors... and I think SU needs to update the watercolor pencil colors.
