Just take a piece of wax paper that is larger then the glossy cardstock (which you will be using as a background). Crumple the wax paper up really well and unfold it.
Place the wax paper on top of the glossy cardstock and then put a sheet of scratch paper on top. Now, take your iron (which should be hot and on the highest setting - for cotton), and iron on top of the scratch paper until you can sort of see the crumpled pattern start to emerge through the scratch paper. Make sure you run the iron over the entire area.
Remove the scratch and wax paper and now you're left with the glossy cardstock that has a crumpled wax design on it. Brayer over the glossy cs with your favorite colour of dye ink, or SU's spectrum pad.
It makes a VERY neat background!

Sonia

Here is a shot of a goup I just made tonight with it...
I will take more pics of them individually in natural light...but this will give yoy an idea of what it looks like...I brayered over it with my spectrum pads...
Wow those are so beautiful! Thank you for posting! I will have to try this, but I don't own an iron :(
Sue
Do you have a curling iron? It would take longer but I bet it would work...and one little tip...put the wax paper in between two pieces of glossy then in between the scrap paper and you will get two sheets done in half the time with less waste!!!
Keri,
Those are just beautiful. I haven't tried this yet. I'm going to have to get out the waxed paper and the iron tomorrow! BTW, love the new atavar! Is that you with long hair?
Janet
Keri very cool looking technique I'll have to try this one. I am going to make me a sample book of all kinds of techniques.I need to add this one to it.

What a funky background! I love those cards! Thanks for posting!
The BG Safari stamp is on my list for next month and I'm thinking it looks similar to that. I wonder if it will. I'm lazy and hate to iron so maybe the same look? I'm always looking for shortcuts and I'll have to try. I just searched under the BG Safari stamp and it came up with cards with backgrounds that looked similar.
Could you use 2 sheets of glossy paper instead of a scratch paper? This way you'd get 2 background sheets?! I think I'll go try it and let you all know.
Those are great cards. I haven't tried the wax paper this way. I used it to make the Frost background that was in the Technique Junkies Newsletter this month, but this is completely different look. Have to try it.

 My how things have changed. We no longer iron our clothes. We iron our hair and paper. I think the iron would be worth having as a stamping tool. Tina

I would be interested in knowing how to do the frost technique if you are willing to share. Thanks tIna
It's easy. Like the other technique, you take your glossy paper and a piece of waxpaper a little larger than the stock. Then crumble it up, smooth it out a little. Then I dropped about 7-8 drops of whatever color you want your background to be and brayer it all over the waxpaper. then you take that and turn it upside down over your glossy paper and brayer it onto your glossy and it comes out really cool looking. I made a Christmas card using this. This is the link:

It is... I am growing it out again and it is in that long enough to be in my face stage with out being able to pull it back so I put up this avatar to remind me it will be worth it all!!! LOL thanks for the compliment!
These are lovely. What spectrum pads did you use? I am trying to decide which ones to purchase.
TIA Julia
Mine are two retired ones, Calypso and Fruit something or other...
If I were you I would go into the gallery and type spectrum pad into the key word search and then take a look and buy the one that really gets your attention everytime,,,then you know you will use it and love it!

I used two sheet of glossy with the wax paper inbetween but still put the scratch paper on top and bottom so that I protected my iron and my ironing board cover!!!
I tried this last night using the 2 pcs of glossy, crumpled waxed paper between and ironed. THEN I used my Brilliance tri color pads - awesome!! The shimmer of the Brilliance, the glossy paper - wow! Try it - you might like it.

  My eyes are popping out........ I guess it's because I iron everything
You can pick a cheep iron at Walmart or Taget for about $5 -$6, and use that only for crafts. Once you get your iron you'll have to try the Melted Crayon Technique (in resources)!
~~Keri love your cards, the color looks so vibrant
