Default What is spotlighting?

What is spotlighting, reverse spotlighting, and how do you spotlight with punches? I've seen a little bit on these techniques, but don't exactly know what they are or how they are done? And how are they done to the best artistic advantage? I'd love to see some samples. Thanks in advance. Y'all are the best!

Default I just tried spotlighting

Hello - I just tried spotlighting myself with great results! I did two cards that are posted here in the galleries.

Look under the TICKLED PINK and STIPPLE BUTTERFLY sets. My cards are titled Glitter Flamingos and Glitter Butterfly.

As described in the technique above, I stamped the image in black on the main card, then stamped it again on a smaller square or rectangle. I only colored the smaller portion, and before mounting it on the main card, I pressed the whole small section onto my VersaMark pad, sprinkled glitter embossing powder over the whole thing, and heat embossed it. The smaller section is now not only colored but glittered and really pops off the card when you mount the smaller piece over the larger image.

Have fun with it!
