Question Wheels & Metallic Inks

I have been asked to make 300 2-4-6-8 boxes as wedding favors. The bride would prefer they be wheeled in silver ink. I was wondering if anyone has tried inking a cartridge with the encore reinkers. To have to continually ink the wheel on the pad would be extremely tedious!
Thanks

Hi Frances, I've never used metallic inks to make my own cartridge, but I've got to believe that it would work just fine. If you "juice" up the blank cartridge with the reinker and it doesn't work, I would immediately clean it with soap and water under the faucet and let the water flush it clean. That way you haven't lost a blank cartridge - you can ink it with another classic ink color. Good luck, and please let us know how it works out!

Connie

P.S. Yes, he is sooooo precious!

I did try to ink up a cartridge with the gold metallic ink. It took a lot of ink to fill up the cartridge, and man, that stuff is thick. It cramps your hand trying to squeeze that ink out. Anyway, I was not thrilled with the results. A fellow stamper told me just to run my wheel over the the metallic ink pad, but I'm not sure how that would work in your situation (doing 300 2-4-6-8 boxes). Try making one this way and see how it works.
