Default Window Appearance

I've seen cards where the image appears to be behind a window and it's not using the label technique. How are they doing this?

Thanks,
Sylvia Morris

Are you talking about Shaker Cards? or maybe Tape cards? There are directions for shaker cards in the Resources area of this site. The tape cards you just punch a hole in the CS and then put packing tape over the hole on the back side and then sprinkle with glitter. It's a simple but nice technique.

I just made one of those. I cut two pieces of cardstock the same size. One I stamped using Lovely as a Tree and the other piece of c.s. I cut was white and I used the square punch and punched six squares. Three on top and three on the bottom. I used some double stick tape and put right on top of the stamped image. I then used 2-way glue in each left hand corner and added some glitter to give it an icy look. Does that sound what you were asking about?

I have a stamp for this from TAC, but I never learned how to use it. It is a 4X6 background-type stamp with just the frames outlined. My demo flaked out on me and never came back to show me how to use it...I have been wondering!

Default Take Ten?

I THINK there are instructions for this technique in Take Ten Volume II, but I've loaned my copy to a friend so can't check. If I remember correctly, it involved a window-shaped stamp - rather like a reversed version of the four squares in Great Shapes - which you stamped out, presumably in black. Then you masked between the "windows" and then stamped your image on top. If you had the time, inclination and patience, I bet you could do it with the square outline in Simple Shapes stamped four times.

Hope this helps and that this is, in fact, the technique you are referring to!
