Default Wooden frame technique??

I know you can put a wooden frame inside of a embossing folder to create a blank space in the center of the card. My question is, do you fold the embossing folder around the frame, or do you leave the folder lay open? It seems like an awfully thick sandwich if i try to close it. I did one last night with the folder open and it was a little faint, it also embossed the frame itself, did I do it completely wrong??
Thanks so much!!!!
Kelli

The sandwich is from bottom up:
A Plate
Embossing Folder with CS inside the folder
Frame (on top of closed embossing folder)
B Plate

You may have to add a thin shim underneath the embossing folder for a sharper impression.

Check out this thread. It also has a link to a video demonstrating how to do the technique.

this technique also works in the old red sizzix machine . you just put paper into embossing folder close folder put woodenframe on top and put through sizzix....you do need to have the converter for this....i would think you could build up with shims and use without converter, but have not tried;)

I have also done this with 2 heavy cardstock pieces that I cut a shape into it with my cricut (mutli cut) then glue/tape them together with the cutout lined up and then run thru the cuttlebug with A plate, embossing folder, heavy cardstock frame on top and then B plate, works good and you can cut any shape that you want with your cricut,

I bought a photo mat and tried this technique......it Worked .....and I used, C plate, folder with CS inside, photo mat on top of that, and the B plate....worked a treat. and if you are talented with a craft knife you can create your own special shapes....rectangles, ovals, and multiple squares are possible with the photo mats. available at HL and Michaels........NO danger of breaking the frame or ??????
