So I had been going the "cheap" way and using glue sticks for a lot of my projects. I want to get something more reliable. I have seen posts mentioning mono adhesive and others. What should I try that is not super expensive to keep using. What are your opinions please!

I like Stampin' Up! SNAIL or mono hands down! It is so easy to use and easy to refill! I used to use hermafix tabs and thought that I loved those until I used mono! It is the best! Iwould definitely recommend that above anything else!
I go to Joann's and get the Duck tape. They are like the mono, but in a red case. I buy it in a pack of 4 for $18.99 and I use my 40% off coupon. I have used the herma fix (dotto) stuff and I don't like anything that can be refilled. It starts getting a build up on it and it gets jammed. I have never had any problems with my duck tape yet.

Personally, I HATE the Mono (aka: Snail) adhesive... unless you use a ton of it, it doesn't hold, and i hate when my stuff falls apart! And I'm an SU demo!
I love my dotto (yes, it's a bit of a pain to refill, and yes, it gets a bit of a build up on it, but I use Goo Gone to clean the case), and I also use the photo squares. Glue Dots ROCK, but they can be very expensive.
I say, buy a bit of each and try them, and see what you think. I always have Glue Dots on hand for ribbon especially, and other 3-D type of things I need to adhere.
Hope this helps!

I personally love the TRIO adhesive system. The price works out to be rather inexpensive (but you are getting a lot, so it seems pricey) and each size refills individually. Which is great in my book.
I'm a Multi Glue fan. I can't ever get the mono adhesive (SNAIL) to stick, and it drives me crazy. I use snail as a temporary adhesive. :-)
Tombo Mono Multi Glue is a liquid glue that comes in a little green and white bottle. It sticks everything! (BUT don't use it on ribbon--it bleeds thru that.) A thread-thin line of Multi will hold down your cardstock forever.
I used my two-way glue pen alot these days. I find Mono falls apart when the weather is humid, so I've been using the glue pen for those permanent sorts of things.
And glue dots. Glue dots rock.

I use Scotch double stick tape for most things I do. I love the stuff and get it at Sam's Club for $8 something for a pack of 6. I also use Zig two-way pens (ball point only), mini glue dots (SU or Therma Web) and my Xyron little X sticker maker. I do use the Tombow (just like the SU snail) however, I don't like how it holds. With the tape, I can move things around for the most part for a while after and not risk ruining the page or card.
I use Yes glue. A large tub costs $14.95, but I divide it into small containers from the dollar store, it is something that you can share with a friend. Your cards won't fall apart! (like it does with mono tape). YOu only need a small amount, you can use paint brushes or paste spreaders (you can get them from school supply stores)
Hope this helps! If you have any yes glue questions let me know!~
