Ok...you guys are so bad! This thread should've had an Enabling Alert 'cuz now I want the darn spiral punch...although previously I didn't think I would get it!!
Wow...everytime SU has a punch I start off thinking Hmmm..I don't really have a use for that. Then I read these threads on SCS and want it. Super cute ideas!
Well, when I first saw the punch, I was jazzed about it because I thought it was used for punching paper that you would later use to cover those pesky spiral bound albums & notebooks that you could never cover because of that dang spiral binding. With this punch, you can stamp paper or cardstock, then cover right up to the spine of a book if the spacing on the spirals is about the same. Using it as a card decoration was secondary to me.
Then, I had this mini spiral bound book with these ugly green pages... about 20 of them. I got it as part of a kit and I thought "Ick, I'm going to throw this out because I will never use a 20-page mini book with these ugly green pages.
THEN THE LIGHT BULB WENT OFF!...
I tore out all of the ugly green pages and kept only the spiral binding. Then, I made some cute oversized tags for a tag book, punched the tops of them all and put them into the rings of the old icky spiral book... viola...an instant bound tag book (sorry, no pics and I already gave it away).
Then I got to thinking... the dollar store is full of these little spiral notebooks and such. I could bring a piece of paper I punched with the spiral binding punch and if the spirals match, I can use the spiral bindings to make my own custom books, albums, notepads, etc. I can stamp away and add or remove pages as I wish because the punch allows you to remove or add pages any time you want.
To summarize, I view it as a way to cover and bind books with sprial bindings. The cute "office" look cards are just the cherry on top!
Ooh, can't see the gallery from work computer, definitely going to check these ideas out when I get home! I like the punch but needed more uses for it before purchasing :/

I saw one for the round tab, but nothing for the spiral punch.

What great ideas! Thanks, Britta, for started this thread, and everyone who posted such creative uses for the spiral punch! Just placed an order last week; now I really can't wait to receive my punch so I can give these terrific ideas a try!
I love the spiral and tab punches. I am keeping a special journal using the 5 x 5 mini art journal. I've embossed tags with the bug and stenciled over them. I spiral punched the bottom end and put them into the journal--flags. Also punched the bottom of coin envelopes and inserted them as pockets into the journal. Used the tabs to separate the sections of the journal. Now I want to try the ribbon threading talked about on this thread.
thanks so much for these ideas. I have purchased the punch and just waiting til I get in my hot little hands........I just love this site. It is so wonderful to see all of these creations, so that we can continue to create more lovely cards.
