I made about 30 paperclips with my Cuttlebug dies and now they don't work even with paper! :( So frustrating! I even went and bought new plates for it. That worked for a bit but now I'm thinking the dies are too flat and dull.
I haven't contacted them on it because I was using the chipboard coasters through it. I am just curious if anyone else has had problems too.
Thanks for any help!
I haven't had this problem. I haven't made that many clippies, though! Could your die be warped? Are you using it foam side up? Are you cutting more than one die at a time? Could your plates be warped?
Try adding an extra shim of cardstock or thin cardboard--or even fun foam--to see if that makes a difference.

That's pretty much what I was thinking too. I used one of mine with the metal side up by accident and it's a bit warped. I keep using it the right way and it's better, but still not straight.
Dawn, do you know anyone around you that has a cuttlebug to try your dies on? I am thinking they are faulty cause I think you asked me about that before, right after you got your bug and dies. I would seriously think about taking the dies back to Michael's to get replacements. you could also call Provo Craft . . .I have the number somewhere . . . 1-800-937-7686. let us know what happens!
Thanks girls! I've been using them the right way but think I will give that tin foil thing a go....could work....wouldn't hurt to try right?
Thanks Tina for the number...I'll give them a call and see what they say.
Well . . . I've only ever used mine foam side up and I must say I'm a bit disappointed in the life of them. They seem to dull very quickly (like after about 25 to 30 uses) and I spend A LOT of time cutting them out by hand in the areas where they fail to cut properly. At first I thought perhaps I had faulty dies, but I'm having similar problems with all of them.

I cut hundreds of the slider dies for a friend and they still cut beautifully. If you ae having issues with all of the dies, I would suspect that it might be your Bug that is causing the problem...perhaps it is looser than the usual Bug and there isn't enough pressure on the dies to force the cutting bars through the cardstock. Have you tried adding another piece of cardstock as a shim to see if tightening the space makes a difference in the cut? What do you think, AmySings, is this a possiblity?
I think a shim is worth a try. My dies are not dulling quickly, either. And as I've said before, I've used several of them a *lot*. Other than a shim or fresh cutting plates, I don't know what else to suggest.
